Position Summary The Data Solution Architect is a key technical leadership role, responsible for developing and evolving new, integrated solutions that leverage our existing applications and newest data-centric technology, which will ultimately serve as the foundation for our next generation of advanced solutions. The Data Solution Architect will closely collaborate with the SVP or Technology, the Cloud Software Architect, development leaders, and product owners to provide designs and lead the direction of high-quality, robust, and scalable solutions. This highly visible role is tasked with leveraging cloud-based technology to own and design our next generation of data-driven systems with enduring performance, scalability, security, and enterprise capabilities.

Key Roles / Responsibilities

Own and lead the design and implementation of the “Data Hub” infrastructure, while managing its dependencies and integration with other systems.

Manage and align in-house and external resources developing data-driven projects, accountable for both financial and schedule commitments.

Ensure data-driven solutions are delivered within timeframe committed; working in conjunction with project sponsors to size and manage scope and risk.

Work with technology and business leaders to evolve data-driven vision, communication channels, and all supporting documentation.

Act as the coach and mentor to team members and technical staff on their assigned project tasks involving data-driven functionality.

Contribute to work reviews with team members involving data-driven deliverables.

Advocate and define cloud data strategy and architecture for data sources, analytics, and other capabilities supporting data-centric applications and future services (including AI).

Own development of internal and external platforms, tools, and systems supporting data-driven deliverables.

Develop and own the vision for advanced data capabilities across all products and services.

Analyze the design, implementation and testing of data solutions, and work across teams on their execution.

Select the right technology and architecture for data platform development

Provide data architecture and design guidance to distributed development teams, i.e., in-house and third-party

Work closely with the executive team to define data-driven direction and strategy

Optimize data-driven infrastructure for cost, scale, and efficiency

Lead the design, development, integration, and debugging of data-driven systems and applications

Perform requirements analysis, system/software design and analysis, development/software metric creation and analysis, system risk analysis, integration, and test metrics from a data-driven perspective

Work with product teams to translate product-specific requirements into data-centric specifications

Provide support, technical governance and expertise related to data architectures, DevOps deployments, and “Data Hub” operations

Anticipate future system needs and be proactive in identifying solutions, related to data centricity and advanced analytics

Evaluate and identify new data-driven technologies for implementation

Maintain overall industry knowledge and latest trends, technologies, etc., working with other experts to advance products

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field; Advanced degree is preferred

Ten (10) years of experience in hands-on cloud and/or data solution development (Azure or AWS preferred in that order)

Minimum 3 years in an architect role in previous large-scale software development projects, preferably SaaS delivery model

Experience and/or exposure to desktop/hybrid/cloud deployment starting points and leveraging SaaS architecture strategy to evolve to a cloud-centric delivery model.

Extensive experience with developing and delivering commercial enterprise software, especially with IoT, data lake, and microservices in the stack

Experience working with container frameworks used to run microservices or data processing workloads with Docker & Kubernetes

Experience with front end technologies, such as Angular and React in a development environment.

Firsthand development experience of Java stack

Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments

Additional Valued Experience

Experience in developing data-centric systems, which employ data mining, machine learning, or statistical techniques, methods, and algorithms

Experience with Progressive Web Applications, especially within the Energy or Oil and Gas industry

Experience deploying cloud solutions into hybrid environments, including architecting services for simultaneous cloud and on-prem deployment

Coordination of geographically distributed teams

Working Conditions

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Positions self to install equipment, including under desks.

Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
