Overview Raytheon Technologies (RTX) is seeking a
Principal Platform Engineer / Linux
with well-rounded Linux Infrastructure Engineering expertise to join an agile product team. The ideal candidate will have experience in traditional infrastructure design; provisioning of platform, storage, and networking resources for existing on-premises infrastructure hardware, and experience in emerging DevOps/DevSecOps & Modernized technologies. The role involves design and implementation of system updates and upgrades with focus on Linux Server / Linux OS expertise, interfacing with program management and the customer for TEMs as required.
The Principal Platform Engineer / Linux will work on development and implementation of traditional compute/network/storage systems and related deployments, and support improving the program platform’s overarching design through new technologies. This includes existing operating systems and server hardware designs, as well as supporting the design and development of new modernized system architectures.
Responsibilities
Develop and communicate infrastructure implementation plans using company and industry best practices
Maintain existing Linux-based systems and manage the COTS stack to support program needs
Assist in training junior engineers to support the program team
Assist with integration of the selected platform provisioning tools such as VMware
Serve as the focal point for the equipment room (lab) to ensure that compute, network, and storage resources are allocated and maintained
Ensure COTS stack and versioning are consistent across the platform and coordinate updates as necessary
Travel to customer sites to assist with system updates and deliveries when necessary
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires BS/BA in STEM (e.g., Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology) or Physics with a minimum of 8 years of related experience
Experience with Agile Development Methodologies (e.g., Scrum, SAFe)
Experience with VMware
Experience with programming (Python, Java, Ruby, Bash, C++, C#, Go)
Current TS/SCI security clearance is required day 1. U.S. citizenship is required
Qualifications We Prefer
Experience with Linux LDAP for accounts and permissions
Experience with Linux Bash scripting for automation
Experience with modernization technologies such as Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker, Rancher
Experience with Windows/Windows Server OS
Experience with networks; SAN/NAS designs and implementation
Experience with Cisco IOS / Fiber Switches; Cisco Server Hardware / ILO remote management
