Managing Director, Capital Formation , you will be a key member of the Leon Capital team and will be integrated into the firm’s existing team focused on RIA and HNW channels. This person will be responsible for sourcing institutional capital for Leon Capital and the firm’s 8 investment vehicles spanning real estate, private equity, and credit. They will provide important input in structuring new products and fund vehicles to serve investor demand and industry trends. With an expansive pipeline of real estate opportunities, this position will lead Leon’s efforts in optimizing capital structure through the curation of strategic partnerships and programmatic relationships. Sourcing new capital providers and strengthening institutional investor outreach channels are critical aspects of this position. Key Responsibilities
Developing and maintaining new institutional capital relationships within the marketplace through targeted sourcing and networking with a specific focus on investors such as pension funds, foundations, endowments, and Sovereign Wealth Funds. An understanding of which sources are active and in what markets, who the decision makers are, and how much capital is available to deploy to better manage participants. Keep internal teams apprised of current trends in the capital markets and provide guidance relative to capital providers’ sentiment on any deal, market, or macro-level performance. Administering closings of fund vehicles, efficiently onboarding investors, and coordinating fund administration. Ensuring all team members adhere to applicable processes (e.g., maintaining up-to-date information in the CRM system, pipeline development), and regulatory requirements. An ability to understand and communicate with potential partners regarding underwriting metrics, submarket performance, and future trends in the real estate industry. Increase investor recognition of Leon Capital overall and contribute to the firm’s credibility and brand positioning in the market by attending conferences, networking events, and, from time to time, serving as a speaker at conferences, symposiums, and panels. Qualifications
10+ years of experience in implementing formal sales processes and maintaining a consistent follow-up cadence with capital prospects. A demonstrated track record of capital-raising success, broad presence in the institutional fundraising world, and deep network. A proven ability to devise and execute external marketing strategies targeting investors, including press releases and fund performance updates. Previous involvement in leading fund closings and efficiently onboarding investors, with coordination of fund administration. Knowledge of the institutional asset management business at both the asset and entity level. Demonstrates inclusive behaviors in support of a culture that values diverse perspectives. Must be able to prioritize and multitask in a deadline-driven environment. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, CFA, and CAIA preferred. Experience in real asset investments/private real estate, ideally active in industry associations, i.e., NMHC, PREA, etc.
