Overview
Athletic Communications Coordinator (Temporary) Review of applications will begin on September 24, 2025. This position is temporary through June 30, 2026, with the possibility of reappointment. The incumbent primarily serves as a sports information and communications assistant for CSUEB intercollegiate athletics, which consists of 14 teams with 10 head coaches plus assistant coaches. Under the supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director of Facilities and Operations, the individual will assist in providing game coverage (including scorekeeping, reporting and record-keeping) for a wide range of sports and athletics contests. The position also supports the coordination of video production and other digital media projects, including support in media relations, marketing and game management. This role may involve responsibilities related to student and campus activities and reporting obligations under campus security policies as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Clery Act.
Responsibilities
Provide game coverage support, including scorekeeping, reporting, and record-keeping for intercollegiate athletics contests. Support coordination of video production and other digital media projects. Assist with media relations, marketing, and game management tasks. Assist with media relations activities and coordinate athletics content on the department website. Serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and report Clery Act crimes to the University Police Department and/or Clery Director as required.
Additional Clery Act / CSA Responsibilities
Report all alleged Clery Act crimes in a timely manner. Report alleged Clery Act crimes using the CSA Reporting Form. Complete annual training requirement.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with relevant coursework in public affairs, communications, or marketing. Up to 2 years of related professional or technical experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including grammar, spelling, and composition.
Preferred Skills and Knowledge
Background in intercollegiate athletic communications. Strong writing and editing experience. Knowledge of Mac/Windows OS, video editing software, and desktop publishing (Adobe Photoshop, InDesign). Proficiency with Microsoft Office, web content management systems (e.g., Sidearm, CBS Sports, Presto), and StateCrew statistics software. Familiarity with computer‑based sports statistical software and NCAA rules as they apply to sports information. Ability to stay focused in a busy office with shifting priorities and demonstrate flexibility in work assignments. Ability to independently troubleshoot with good problem-solving skills.
Conditions of Employment
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including LiveScan, as appropriate) may be required. A conditional offer of employment may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information or if there is any misrepresented information. All background checks are conducted through the university\'s third‑party vendor, Accurate; LiveScan is conducted through the University Police Department.
