Communications Director
who can lead the charge in streamlining communication across the church, reimagine our brand identity, and resource ministry leaders with the tools and systems they need to communicate effectively across platforms and to various congregational segments. This role is especially strategic as we look to expand and mature our digital presence, including our website, social media, email strategy, online storytelling, and digital discipleship. Strategic Communication & Digital Growth
Develop and implement a unified communication strategy that ensures consistency across all platforms (print, digital, social, etc.). Manage a clear process for submitting, reviewing, and approving communication requests in alignment with calendar and budget planning. Collaborate on digital strategy development and lead improvements across multiple channels and increasing email effectiveness. Regularly evaluate and refine communication channels to maximize clarity and impact.
Brand Oversight & Storytelling
Shape and steward the church’s brand identity, including visual style, tone of voice, and messaging across all media. Ensure all content (written, visual, and digital) reflects consistent branding and theological alignment. Provide training and guidance to ministries to ensure consistent brand application across all content. Curate and share compelling stories of life change, mission impact, and ministry activity. Work with the Creative Team in the design and production of print and digital assets (logos, signage, flyers, social media graphics, etc.).
Ministry Resourcing & Support
Create and maintain communication toolkits, templates, and brand guides for ministry leaders to use independently. Consult with individual ministries to help them plan and execute communication strategies that are audience-focused and mission-driven. Provide light training and support for communication tools (e.g., Canva, Mailchimp).
Content Creation & Management
Oversee management of digital platforms, including website, YouTube, and social media. Collaborate on the creation of content for digital platforms with the Weekend Creative Team and Discipleship Teams. Ensure brand consistency, relevance, accuracy, and theological alignment in all public-facing materials. Use analytics to monitor performance and adapt communication strategies for greater reach and engagement. Recruit and lead staff and volunteers (writers, designers, photographers, etc.) to support communications, including direct oversight of the Communications Coordinator. Manage relationships with contractors and vendors for specialized projects like video, design, printing, and website management.
Qualifications
A growing relationship with Jesus Christ, commitment to the mission and values of Damascus Road Community Church (DRCC), and consistent participation in the life and ministry of Damascus Road. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Digital Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred, not required. 3–5+ years of experience in communications or marketing, preferably in a church or nonprofit setting. Proficiency in digital tools and platforms: Design (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva). Strong writing and editing skills with a clear, engaging style. Organizationally-minded with strong project management skills and attention to detail. Relationally oriented with an ability to build and manage working relationships with many ministry directors. A risk-taker who is excited to try new things, experiment, and use feedback to iterate and improve function and approach. A team player who enjoys collaborating across departments. Comfortable working both at a strategic level and in hands-on execution. Based onsite at Damascus Road, with flexible and remote working opportunities. Some evening or weekend hours may be required for key events or Sunday responsibilities. Reports to the Executive Pastor of Teaching and Weekend Experience, and works closely with ministry leaders, creative volunteers, and technical staff. Benefits
