Overview
Business Analyst - (Insurance/ Reinsurance Data Governance) - Hybrid or Remote — Arch Capital Group Ltd. This role focuses on data governance, metadata, and enabling smarter business decisions within Arch Reinsurance. The position is hybrid in Farmington, CT with in-office collaboration every Wednesday; exceptional candidates may be considered for a fully remote arrangement anywhere in the U.S., with a preference for East Coast locations. Base pay range: $110,000.00/yr - $130,000.00/yr. The posted range is provided by Arch Capital Group Ltd. Your actual pay will be based on skills and experience. What You’ll Do
Operationalize Data Governance: Implement Data Governance and Data Management framework within project workflows and daily operations. Consult on Projects: Partner with cross-functional project teams to ensure alignment with enterprise data governance standards. Support Governance Technologies: Assist in implementing and maintaining platforms such as Data Catalogs (e.g., Collibra, Alation), Master/Reference Data Management (MDM/RDM), and Data Quality tools. Drive Metadata Excellence: Maintain accurate and accessible metadata across systems in collaboration with stakeholders. Enable Reference Data Standardization: Provide data and business analysis to harmonize reference data across the enterprise. Job Responsibilities
Project Alignment & Consultation: Ensure alignment with Arch’s Data Governance and Data Management framework; provide guidance on data standards, policies, and best practices throughout the project lifecycle; review deliverables for governance compliance. Operationalize Governance Framework: Support rollout and adoption of governance processes across business units; embed governance into daily operations and project workflows; maintain governance documentation and data standards. Technology Platform Support: Assist in implementation, configuration, and maintenance of data catalog platforms, MDM/RDM platforms, and data quality platforms; monitor usage and support onboarding and training. Metadata Management: Collaborate with data stewards/owners to capture and maintain metadata; ensure metadata is accurate, complete, and accessible via the data catalog; support enrichment and classification efforts. Reference Data Standardization: Analyze and translate business requirements to harmonize reference data; identify inconsistencies and gaps; define and implement standard values with stakeholders. Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with business and technical stakeholders to understand data needs; facilitate communication between governance, IT, and business teams; promote governance tools and practices. Required Skills
Metadata Management: Understanding of metadata concepts and experience with data cataloging. Data Governance Tools: Familiarity with MDM/RDM, data quality, and governance workflows. Business Analysis: Ability to translate business requirements into metadata for governance tools and data management initiatives. Data Analysis: Ability to analyze data sets to identify inconsistencies, gaps, data requirements, and standardization opportunities. SQL or Querying Skills: Basic to intermediate ability to query data for validation and analysis. Data Modeling Concepts: Understanding of data structures, relationships, and reference data domains. Governance & Compliance Knowledge; Data Governance Frameworks MDM/RDM Principles and Best Practices Data Quality Management: Experience defining and monitoring data quality rules and metrics. Regulatory Awareness: Familiarity with data-related regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and compliance requirements. Tool Proficiency: Experience with data catalog platforms (e.g., Collibra, Informatica Axon, Alation) and data quality platforms (e.g., Informatica Data Quality, Talend); exposure to Power BI; Office 365, Confluence, and data visualization tools (Visio, Lucid). Detail-Oriented and Problem-Solving: Precision in metadata management and addressing data issues; adaptability to dynamic environments and multiple projects. Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, or a related field (required or preferred). Minimum 2 years of experience or knowledge in Data Governance, Metadata Management, Data Quality, MDM, and Data Stewardship principles (preferred). Minimum 5 years of experience applying technical and business skills to perform data analysis and translate requirements into descriptive metadata and reference data. Minimum 5 years of experience in the Insurance and/or Reinsurance industry. Experience with cloud-based applications and understanding IT security principles; experience with system testing. Notes
