Overview
Senior Data Visualization Specialist - (Remote - US) at ICF. This role is contingent upon a contract award. While it is not an immediate opening, we are actively conducting interviews and extending offers in anticipation of the award. This role seeks a Senior Data Visualization Specialist with deep expertise in transforming fragmented, outdated reporting environments into cohesive, user-friendly, and insight-driven experiences. It supports a high-impact digital modernization initiative for public safety, regulatory improvement, and program effectiveness through advanced analytics and AI/ML integration. The objective is to move from static, hard-to-maintain reporting to streamlined, actionable, and sustainable insights delivery through thoughtful visual design, data storytelling, and scalable reporting frameworks. It requires strategic thinking, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and a deep understanding of human-centered design, report lifecycle management, and enterprise reporting architecture. What You’ll Be Doing
Lead the discovery and rationalization of existing legacy reports, identifying duplication, inconsistencies, and key areas for consolidation Design and implement modern reporting frameworks and BI solutions that align with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder needs Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and architects to build data models and reporting layers that support report reusability and long-term maintainability Conduct deep dives into data warehouses and data marts to map and surface the right data for insights Apply human-centered design (HCD) principles to every stage of visualization from user research and prototyping to accessibility and testing Translate complex business and technical requirements into intuitive, impactful dashboards using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or Looker Educate clients and internal teams on best practices for data visualization, layout, interactivity, and self-service analytics Drive Agile project delivery, including backlog grooming, sprint reviews, and iterative refinement of visual assets Provide thought leadership on BI modernization strategy, including documentation standards, design systems, metadata management, and visual governance Technologies You’ll Use

Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Design, Information Systems, or related field 5+ years of experience designing and delivering dashboards and visual analytics solutions using Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, or Looker 5+ years of experience using SQL to query, transform, and analyze data from relational databases or cloud-based data warehouses U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder) preferred Employment must be compliant with eligibility for Public Trust Clearance due to Government Contract What We Would Like You To Bring With You
Experience creating semantic layers and enterprise-level reporting frameworks that support scalable self-service reporting Demonstrated success in consolidating legacy reports or migrating reporting environments to modern BI platforms Strong portfolio of HCD-aligned dashboards or user-centric reporting systems Familiarity with ETL processes, data modeling, and governance in cloud-native environments Proven ability to assess and redesign fragmented reporting ecosystems into standardized, design-led reporting environments Experience collaborating with data engineers and MLOps teams, supporting AI/ML-driven use cases Strong facilitation skills to guide business users through the modernization journey from needs analysis to delivery Passion for design systems, layout consistency, accessibility, and modern UX principles Experience mentoring junior team members or overseeing visualization workstreams Exposure to or interest in Agile methodologies and collaboration tools like Jira, Confluence, Mural, or Miro Professional Skills
