Mattel, Inc. is seeking an experienced and self-motivated Sr. Product Designer to join the Hot Wheels Licensed Entertainment Tracks and Playsets product design team. Our group focuses on creating new, exciting vehicles-based toys from Hot Wheels including vehicles, track-sets, playsets, and accessories. The design team targets both parents and kids, staying on top of trends, kids’ entertainment and competitor products, translating insights into successful product designs. The ideal candidate will have strong toy play understanding, solid sketching, illustration and design skills, and a proven ability to ideate and develop innovative concepts for kids’ toys. Responsibilities

Actively generate new toy ideas to enhance Licensed Entertainment Tracks and Playsets Execute on both product designs and potentially graphic designs Design and develop for tracks and playsets toys and/or advertised lines or segments of product Build alignment and partnerships across the design process Partner with cross-functional teams including Development Design, Engineering, Packaging and Cost Engineering to ensure product integrity and marketing objectives Daily communication with Mattel Asia design and development partners Present and communicate concepts to design, marketing, management and other creative teams Manage early phases of design and development with other disciplines within the company Qualifications

4+ years of toy design experience Skilled in sketching and illustration Ability to prove ideas with sketches, illustrations, breadboards or 3D models and provide clear input for execution Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator and 2D computer programs Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to lead and be led, take input, and apply it to design solutions Adobe Creative Suite proficiency Knowledge of 3D CAD (Alias, Rhino 3D is a plus) Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes for soft goods and plastics Some knowledge of mechanisms in toys Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment Project management ability Portfolio demonstrating design excellence and problem solving Creative, positive, self-motivated, passionate about play; organized and professional Interest and knowledge of current trends; understanding of toy systems and how toys connect (e.g., Hot Wheels Track System) *The pay range is indicative; base pay is determined by location, skills and experience.
