Overview
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at UC Santa Cruz Student Health Services is recruiting for a Psychologist, Generalist to provide students with a wide range of mental health and wellness services as well as preventative outreach and consultation services. Either an 80% (4 days/week) or 100% (5 days/week) appointment is available.
The Psychologist, Generalist is a Partial Year Career position. A Partial Year Career position contains regularly scheduled non-work periods during which the Psychologist remains an employee and retains health benefits, but is not at work. Depending upon applicant preference, the non-work period will be either 4 or 8 weeks during the summer, is unpaid time off, and is determined at time of employment offer.

CAPS provides mental health services including intake assessment, brief and long-term individual therapy, crisis intervention, outreach and workshops, consultation, and liaison relationships to support student mental health and well-being.
The Primary Care Program offers primary and same-day care services, supported by on-site radiology, a COLA-accredited clinical laboratory, and campus pharmacy.

APPOINTMENT INFORMATION Budgeted Salary:
$8,952.04-$11,581.20 per month at 100% time or $7,161.63-$9,264.96 per month at 80% time. Salary is commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience. The posted salary reflects the amount UCSC reasonably expects to pay.

JOB DUTIES
Direct Service (65%): Provides brief counseling and long-term psychotherapy with students (individuals and couples) with a broad range of issues; triage and intake assessment; crisis assessment, intervention, and stabilization; case management and referral; group counseling and psychoeducational groups; collaboration with CAPS and SHS providers, campus partners, and community resources; determine need for other interventions; supervision/training of doctoral interns and postdocs; outreach programs and trainings; consultation for After Hours Crisis Service.
Indirect Service (35%): Provides consultation to staff, faculty, and administrators; participates in CAPS committees; maintains clinical documentation; promotes safety and appropriately responds to injuries.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Valid California licensure, in good standing, in Psychology OR Valid out-of-state licensure in Psychology (see Special Conditions).
Clinical experience with brief therapy and long-term therapy models
Strong crisis management and high-acuity student support experience
Experience facilitating psychotherapy and groups
Multiculturally responsive and trauma-informed practice with diverse identities
Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity in university mental health delivery
Experience designing outreach and workshops
Knowledge of late adolescence development
Interdisciplinary teamwork and collaboration skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; professional behavior
Strong planning and organizational skills
Proficiency with electronic health records and scheduling software
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
College/university counseling experience
Interest in supervision and training of doctoral interns and postdocs
APA-accredited PhD/PsyD program and internship
California licensure preferred over out-of-state licensure
Experience serving underserved populations relevant to UCSC students
