Overview
An experienced Design/Design-Build Project Manager will add critical bench strength at GMHILL to meet our growing backlog. Founded in 2004, G.M. Hill Engineering, Inc. (GMHILL) is a fast-growing woman-owned small business (WOSB) headquartered in Jacksonville, FL, with offices in Alexandria, VA, Virginia Beach, VA, Tallahassee, FL, Panama City, FL, Beaufort, SC, Houston, TX and Thomasville, GA. GMHILL has nearly 20 years of experience providing clients with a wide range of engineering, architecture, and construction services. We have recent Prime experience in facility assessments and building inspections; developing and reviewing D/B RFP’s; planning; architecture; engineering; construction management; general construction; design-build for federal defense and civilian agencies; state and local governments. Current project loads throughout the GMHILL area of operations demand the expansion of field staff at all levels. We are seeking candidates with at least 10 years of experience as a Design/Design-Build Project Manager with experience delivering on D/B SATOC/MATOC/MACCs for federal Defense and Civilian Departments. Responsibilities
Lead and motivate a multi-discipline team of architects, engineers, and constructors to serve clients and develop workable solutions that meet client needs. Plan, organize, coordinate, monitor, and administer projects to complete within budget, on time, and in accordance with quality and safety standards. Develop strong client relationships to facilitate successful, timely, profitable projects and repeat business. Manage several projects simultaneously; participate in selection, pursuit, schedule, and budget development for construction projects across various markets. Coordinate design, build, bid-build, CM, CMaR, and self-performing trades work across project types. From capture to closeout, contribute to project placement throughout CONUS and beyond. Communicate with clients, staff, and team through presentations and meetings; provide project updates and milestone status. Prepare budgets, proposals, contracts, and support during contract fee negotiations. Obtain licenses, permits, and agency approvals to start work. Develop and implement project quality control programs; oversee safety and regulatory compliance. Plan, strategize, and initiate action with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to overcome delays or emergencies and resolve issues affecting progress. Investigate damages, accidents, or delays to ensure proper procedures are followed. Support field personnel and advocate site safety; provide cross-division support as needed. Participate in pursuit and business development activities, including technical writing and client interviews. Other duties as assigned to successfully deliver projects. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Extensive knowledge of practical application of architecture and engineering science and technology as it applies to building design (architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, sustainability, plumbing). Knowledge of design techniques and tools for producing technical plans, drawings, and computer models. Knowledge of applicable regulations for Federal Civilian, Military, State/Municipal, PK-12/Higher Education markets. Knowledge of business and management principles, strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Knowledge of project management tools including PERT charts and Gantt charts. Self-starter, highly motivated, able to deliver design and construction rigor within scope, budget, and schedule for multiple projects. Customer service orientation and ability to build relationships and advocate for the company. Team-oriented, with ability to collaborate across levels and functions. Strong verbal and written communication skills; professional, diplomatic, and tactful. Excellent organization and time management; ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with attention to detail. Leadership, coaching, and mentoring capabilities; commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork. Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and specifications across site/civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical domains. Must be able to pass background check, drug screen, and federal security clearance processes. Supervisory Responsibilities
This position may have supervisory responsibilities. If so, the individual will mentor subordinate staff, develop performance reviews, and establish goals. Education, Training, Certificates, Licenses, And Registration Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management Master’s degree preferred Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience; minimum of 7 years in Design/Design-Build Project Manager with success on projects valued from $1M to $15M+ Federal project and task order experience (Defense and/or Civilian Agency) preferred Professional Engineer license (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) required. PMP and LEED AP BD+C certification a plus Proficient with industry software such as ProCore, MS Office, Excel, Word, MS Project & Outlook; Timberline experience desired Valid driver’s license required OSHA 10, OSHA 30 certifications and ARC First Responder Course completion desired USACE Certified Quality Manager certification desired Physical demands: sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing; lifting up to 25 pounds; various vision requirements; travel as needed Other
