We’re looking for a
Staff User Experience Designer
to lead the end-to-end product experience design for Datavant’s new Legal & Insurance vertical. This vertical’s mission is to enable seamless medical record retrieval and value-added services for attorneys, copy services, and insurance record requesters. Responsibilities Set the design vision for the vertical, shaping product strategy through design from day one.
Partner closely with product, engineering, data science, and operations to
build this business line from inception .
Conduct
market and customer research, including user interviews, workflow studies, and competitive analysis , to ground design decisions in real-world needs.
Establish
scalable UX frameworks and design systems
that ensure consistency across products.
Represent the
voice of the user at the leadership level , influencing strategy and prioritization.
Work with cutting-edge AI to design innovative, data-rich solutions.
This is a
senior individual contributor role : you will set the vision and lead strategically, while also rolling up your sleeves to execute on critical design and research work.

What You’ll Bring 8–12+ years of experience in user experience design, with a proven record of leading
complex, enterprise-grade, data-heavy products .
Demonstrated ability to
shape product strategy through design and research , not just deliver features.
Strong background in
user research
— designing and conducting interviews, usability studies, and market analysis to inform product direction.
Experience defining
design systems, workflows, and scalable frameworks .
Familiarity with healthcare; bonus if experienced with medical record retrieval processes and attorneys, copy services, or insurance use cases.
Strong communicator who can simplify complexity and influence
executive and cross-functional leadership .
Track record of
mentoring and elevating design peers , raising the overall bar for craft and process.
A collaborative team player with a
self-starter, entrepreneurial mindset

At Datavant our total rewards strategy powers a high-growth, high-performance, health technology company that rewards our employees for transforming health care through creating industry-defining data logistics products and services. The range posted is for a given job title, which can include multiple levels. Individual rates for the same job title may differ based on their level, responsibilities, skills, and experience for a specific job. The estimated total cash compensation range for this role is: $192,000—$240,000 USD Practical notes
