Overview

As a strategic partner to Albertsons, the Category Manager Everyday IC (Immediate Consumption) is responsible for providing fact-based, insight-led, and actionable category solutions to drive growth for the category, customer, and company, specifically for the Checkstand business. This category thought leader translates consumer and data trends into value-creating business solutions regarding category assortment, merchandising, shelving, pricing and promotion for the Albertsons Checkstand business. Primary focus is leading category initiatives at the HQ level with additional ad hoc divisional level support. Close collaboration and leadership with the broader Albertsons Sales, Category and Internal MW teams will be critical to the success of this role.

What are we looking for?

5+ years Category Management experience preferred

Analytical experience from situation assessment through solutions with tangible results leveraging syndicated data resources (EYC Shopper 360; IRI or AC Nielsen; Scan, Panel, Spectra, etc.)

Highly proficient in MS Office and other technical applications (JDA, Excel, PowerPoint)

Strategic focus and ability to creatively solve complex problems

Advanced interpersonal skills

Willingness to travel up to 20% of time

Preferred Qualifications

Albertsons experience preferred

Experience managing and visualizing large data sets using tools such as Alteryx, Data Lake, MS Power BI, Tableau, Teradata

Advanced Microsoft Office skills and experience, including storytelling capability within PowerPoint to influence customer decisions

Forward-looking, creative and strategic thinking ability

Knowledge of emerging retail strategy and technology including omni-channel

What will be your key responsibilities? As the primary Mars Wrigley Category Contact for Albertsons Everyday Checkstand Candy, this associate will:

Create and plan category leadership solutions which will deliver profitable sales growth for Albertsons Checkstand business

Develop the knowledge and skills to consistently provide quality category support including category assortment, merchandising, shelving, pricing and promotional performance and recommendations, planogram analysis and development, competitive market analysis, project leadership and support, test and learn analytics, ad hoc and ongoing data management, and reporting and presentation building

Develop positive, cross-functional relationships with key customer and internal stakeholders to build trust and credibility to drive Albertsons Checkstand category

Partner closely with the Mars Wrigley Category Strategy team to leverage and activate internal category initiatives, including Perfect Store execution and other success measures, with detailed follow-through

Utilize knowledge of the category, consumers and customers to support development of Albertsons 1-3 year front-end strategic category plans, prioritizing projects based on viability and incremental value

Influence Annual Account Business Planning at the customer, through full partnering with sales team, by providing actionable category insights and solutions that support category leadership objectives

Evaluate and monitor all customer category leadership solutions, turn analysis into recommended action, and continually improve efficiency and effectiveness for category and customer

Be the subject matter expert on Albertsons Checkstand business, supporting Albertsons HQ and ad hoc divisional needs

Leverage insights and resources through a broad range of data sources, market research findings, tools, analyses, and technology to bring new shopper ideas to customer and company

Advanced analytical, project management, and written/oral communication skills required; ability to think strategically

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is USD 85,875.00 - USD 118,083.00. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors including location, knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may include other elements, such as variable pay and allowances. Eligible employees may participate in the 401(k) plan, and in company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and dependents. Paid parental leave and paid time off are offered where applicable: 120 hours of vacation per year, paid sick time with continuation for up to 40 hours per year, and 12 paid holidays (fixed and flexible).
