Overview
Working with Us Challenging. Meaningful. Life-changing. Bristol Myers Squibb offers unique, impactful work across departments. Opportunities to grow and thrive with high-achieving teams in a culture focused on transforming patients’ lives. Bristol Myers Squibb values balance and flexibility. We offer competitive benefits and programs to support employees in work and personal life. Learn more at care ers.bms.com/working-with-us. Joining BMS means becoming part of a diverse, high-achieving team united by a common mission. About IPS and Oncology Focus
The Informatics and Predictive Sciences (IPS) mission is to Pioneer, Partner and Predict to drive transformative insights for patient benefit. IPS conducts applied computational research in genomic, structural and molecular informatics; computational and systems biology; patient selection and translational biomarker research; knowledge science, epidemiology and machine learning across drug discovery and development and across therapeutic areas. We collaborate with scientific and clinical experts inside and outside BMS to empower data-driven decisions and transform patient lives. We seek a creative and passionate computational biologist with a strong background in drug discovery and cancer immunology to join the Oncology team within IPS. You will lead a team using cutting-edge machine learning and advanced statistics to analyze high-dimensional patient and pre-clinical data, and work with biologists to build and prosecute a discovery cancer immunology portfolio. Responsibilities
Manage and develop a team of computational scientists partnering on shared drug discovery objectives. Define and implement computational strategy to identify novel therapeutic concepts. Lead a team working with diverse data modalities, including spatial transcriptomics, single cell RNA-seq, high-throughput proteomics, RNA-Seq, multiplex flow cytometry, and clinical data. Mentor scientists in deep analyses to evaluate patient-derived data and develop testable therapeutic hypotheses. Collaborate with Research and Development teams (biologists, computational biologists, clinicians) to develop holistic translational data packages for target concept opportunities. Communicate findings and recommended actions in multiple settings; contribute to scientific reports and publishable methods. Qualifications
Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of experience in computational biology, computational cancer immunology, or related field; or Master’s degree with 10+ years of experience; or PhD with 8+ years of experience in relevant field. Preferred Qualifications PhD in a quantitative field such as computational biology or computational cancer immunology. Experience managing computational scientists and cross-functional teams (matrix management) preferred. Experience with high-dimensional molecular datasets (multi-omics, scRNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, genotyping). Hands-on programming in R or Python for computational and reproducible research. Track record of publications and leadership in computational projects; strong communication skills; background in cancer immunology preferred. Compensation and Benefits
The starting compensation is a range from $211,950 - $256,800 plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility). Final, individual compensation is decided based on experience. Benefits details are available on the BMS Careers site; eligibility may vary by location and role. Benefit offerings may include medical, pharmacy, dental and vision, wellbeing programs, 401(k), disability and life insurance, travel protection, and various paid leave options. Other perks include tuition reimbursement and a recognition program. On-site/Work Arrangement BMS uses site-essential, site-by-design, field-based and remote-by-design occupancy types. Site-essential roles require 100% onsite shifts; site-by-design roles may be hybrid with at least 50% onsite; field-based/remote-by-design roles may require travel and attendance at meetings as directed. Accessibility BMS is committed to accommodations for applicants with disabilities. Requests for accommodations can be directed to adastaffingsupport@bms.com. For EEO information, visit careers.bms.com/eeo-accessibility. All data collected in connection with role applications will be treated according to applicable data privacy policies.
