Overview
The full-spectrum Capital One Communications team develops and executes the company’s communications strategy to propel business imperatives while protecting and promoting the brand. The team includes corporate and brand media relations, issues and reputation management, financial communications, and associate communications, with a full-service content and creative storytelling capability for internal and external channels. As a central team within Global Enterprise Affairs, we act as strategic counselors at the intersection of value creation and risk mitigation, helping drive business initiatives while enhancing Capital One’s reputation. We are seeking talented individuals to join our growing Tech & Innovation Communications team. This position requires exceptional judgment, relationship-building in a matrixed environment, and a sustained focus on delivering results. About the Role:
As Manager, Science & Technology, on the Corporate Communications team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and executing integrated, strategic communication efforts that elevate Capital One’s brand and reputation as an innovator in finance. You will work across the business and enterprise functions to foster strong relationships with senior leadership and help deliver campaigns that advance Capital One’s enterprise technology business goals. Responsibilities
Help drive scientific innovation internal communications and external public relations, thought leadership, and reputation-building efforts, including ownership of key workstreams in enterprise AI/ML, data science, and broader science communications Partner with data science, applied and academic research, AI/ML, and modeling teams to develop messaging and internal communications strategies that advance community and talent-related programs Support Capital One’s external positioning within AI, data, and other scientific disciplines, elevating Capital One as a leader in technology and a destination for top technology and academic talent Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless implementation of communications strategies Contribute to team-wide efforts to develop processes and operational excellence Stay informed about industry trends to inform and enhance communication strategies Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or military experience At least 5 years of communications experience related to the sciences, technology, or innovation Preferred Qualifications
6+ years of public relations or communications experience in financial services, technology, and/or other science-related industries Notes:

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries are for candidates hired to work within the listed locations and reflect the offer at the time of posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated. Richmond, VA: $115,200 - $131,500 for Communications Manager New York, NY: $138,300 - $157,800 for Communications Manager McLean, VA: $126,700 - $144,600 for Communications Manager Candidates hired in other locations will follow the pay range for that location; actual salary will be stated in the offer letter. This role is eligible for performance-based incentives, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI).
