As the Power Engineer, supporting our active contract with the U.S. Navy in the Washington, DC area, you will support and be an integral part of the design and development of the Columbia Class submarine's Integrated Power System (IPS) electrical system. Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our military defense and safety of our sailors. Team Submarine's Program Offices are responsible for the acquisition of the Columbia Class SSBN and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E) and Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E) of the Columbia Class. The program is a major defense acquisition program with significant political importance with Congress and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and is responsible for the acquisition of New Construction Submarines and for the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, T&E, LFT&E, and Fleet introduction of the U.S. Navy\'s newest class of nuclear attack submarines (SSN(X)). The total life cycle cost is projected to be approximately $336B. The NAVSEA 05Z5 Directorate designs and develops the Columbia Class IPS, provides power distribution and propulsion for the future submarine, and collaborates with the shipbuilder and vendors to meet design requirements. PMS 351 Program Office is responsible to PEO Submarines for the design and development of SSN(X). They work with the shipbuilder to ensure the platform meets required capabilities for multi-mission operation with stealth and speed enhancements. Len Bunch leads this team as a Navy veteran and the team has been recognized for contributions to the contract and program. In this role, you will: Design and implement electrical power and distribution systems. Develop and integrate the control systems for all power components. Design and develop Turbine Generators, with an emphasis on the generator end. Design and integrate control systems for the Turbine Generator. Collaborate closely with Naval Reactors, PMS 397, the shipbuilder, and component vendors to define and meet detailed design requirements. Ensure all production units meet established design criteria and maintain high quality standards. Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have: A current or active Secret clearance. US Citizenship. Bachelor\'s degree in electrical, mechanical, computer, or other engineering field (or related field such as Physics). NAVSEA or submarine experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements. 5 years of experience. 3 years of experience in the design of military or commercial power systems or similar/related experience. Articulate in both oral and written formats. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Ability to provide rigorous, responsive, technical acumen while maintaining a collaborative and amiable approach. Ability to travel ~10% of the time. Additional desired experience and skills

5 years of experience in maintenance, operation and issue resolution of power systems. 3 years of experience with magnetic bearings as applied to power systems. Naval Nuclear Propulsion experience on VIRGINIA class submarines, at a Prototype or Nuclear shipyard.
