Manager, Special Events role at

NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, Inc. The LDF is the country’s first civil and human rights law organization. LDF’s mission is to achieve racial justice, equality, and an inclusive society through litigation, public policy advocacy, and public education in criminal justice, economic justice, education, and political participation. LDF operates in a hybrid work environment where employees are expected to be in the office a minimum of two days per week, unless otherwise indicated. Responsibilities

In consultation with the Director of Special Events, plan and implement LDF’s annual signature fundraising event, the National Equal Justice Awards Dinner (NEJAD). Assist the Director of Special Events in planning NEJAD, including researching and identifying potential honorees, venues, performers, event theme, vendors, etc. Assist in the negotiation of contracts with vendors and event contributors and manage implementation of contracts. Oversee prospect research for event sponsorships. Prepare presentations and materials for sponsorship requests. Manage invitation and RSVP process, including coordinating invitation design, registration, seating, and related tasks. Manage fulfillment of sponsorship packages (e.g., name/logo recognition, table placement). Oversee development of profiles and look-books for NEJAD attendees. Communicate with donors/prospects and respond to inquiries. Assist with event logistics and day-of-event operations; staff NEJAD as needed. Manage the Special Events Associate on NEJAD-related tasks (invoicing, expense reports, research, materials, meetings, and database records). Assist with post-NEJAD responsibilities, including thank-you notes and debriefs. Plan and implement at least eight cultivation/stewardship events per year for Institutional and Individual donors, including venue research, invitations, sponsorship materials, and event logistics. Coordinate travel related to events for LDF staff and external partners as needed. Support development of high-functioning special events program, creating detailed work plans and templates by event type/region. Qualifications

5-7 years of experience in Development & Special Events Bachelor’s degree Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; strong organizational, project management, and time management abilities Ability to interact tactfully with diverse stakeholders and exercise independent judgment Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and knowledge of event scheduling, production, administration, and sponsorship Ability to work well under pressure; self-motivated and collaborative Experience with senior executives and high-profile volunteer leadership Flexibility to work independently and as part of a team Commitment to LDF’s mission; experience with civil/human rights organizations a plus Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for events This description is not an exhaustive list of duties and may be revised.
