About the Environment Resource Center The Associated Students Environmental Resource Center aims to make San Francisco State a more environmentally conscious campus. Through projects, policy reform, education, and community outreach, our team promotes many facets of sustainability and social justice. We work to facilitate waste diversion, provide resources to students interested in sustainability, educate students on environmental and social justice issues through events and workshops, and advance sustainable and just policies on campus. The SOL Patch Community Garden plays an important component, critical to providing community, environmental education, and personal development for members of the SFSU student body.

Position Details The ERC’s EOEC supports campus sustainability and environmental justice efforts through event planning, outreach, and collaboration with student groups.

Essential Job Duties

Assist with facilitating all Fall/Spring initiatives for Sol Patch Garden, Sustainability Initiatives, and environmental justice movements.

Assist ERC Director with event planning and facilitating the semester events and initiatives (i.e. catering requests, guest speaker forms, and communication, such as ERC Instagram, Gator Experience, or Email).

Directly oversees ERC social media, communications, and maintains the ERC semester Google calendar of events and AS Programs Events.

Manages the ERC emailing list, volunteer attendance, and oversees AS Event Feedback form.

Assists with the hiring process to recruit open ERC coordinator positions & internship roles.

Attends bi-weekly meetings scheduled with AS Program Directors, as requested by the Director when they are not available to attend.

Supports with creating the weekly staff meeting agenda with ERC Director’s input.

Supports and maintains ERC’s partnerships with on-and-off campus environmental organizations.

Coordinates with other SFSU departments (i.e. Sustainable SF State), AS Programs (i.e. Women’s Center), and student groups (i.e. SNAG) to promote sustainability and social justice on campus.

Assists ERC Director in monitoring expenditures according to the ERC annual budget.

Assists ERC Director in intern evaluations during the mid and final part of the semester.

Contributes to the Annual ERC Report to include accomplishments and highlights for the EOEC area.

Qualifications

Must be a student at San Francisco State University enrolled in at least 6 units for undergraduates or 4 units for graduates.

Must be able to attend most Food Rescues (currently Fridays from 7:00pm - 9:00pm).

Must have passion for and/or background in environmental sustainability, environmental justice, and community organizing.

Must take initiative and have direct decision-making calls.

Previous volunteer work with the ERC and/or environmental organizations is a plus.

Excellent written skills; highly experienced with email correspondence.

Excellent verbal skills; able to give presentations and lead meetings.

Excellent organizational skills; experience with creating/managing calendars and agendas.

Excellent time-management.

Proficient with Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets, Microsoft Word/Google Docs, and Microsoft PowerPoint/Google Slides.

Must be able to carry out physical work associated with Waste Audits and Food Rescue.

Attention to detail, as well as strong leadership, time management, and organizational skills.

Ability to work in diverse groups and independently.
