Overview
Commercial Property Claims Specialist Objective To help our insured recover after a commercial property loss of varied size and complexity. To effectively investigate, evaluate, and resolve commercial property claims for our valued client within the companys contractual and legal obligations. To deliver an exceptional customer and agent experience to aid in the retention of business while consistently adhering to established claims handling guidelines and best practices.
To ensure proactive and timely service, while providing an appropriate and equitable resolution to insureds and the company.
Responsibilities
Commercial Property Claims Specialist Responsibilities Deliver exceptional customer service to the insureds and agents. Investigate, evaluate, manage, and resolve claims under minimal supervision in compliance with best practices, claim handling guidelines and state regulations. Evaluate complex commercial coverage and significant loss exposures.
Interpret and determine policies, leases, by-laws, declarations, articles, and contract coverages and apply to all parties for assigned losses.
Explain advanced policy language, coverage, and exclusions. Issue proper Reservation of Rights (RORs) and denial letters incorporating all facts, policy language, exclusions, and state mandated disclosures.
Evaluate, scope, and estimate reserve recommendations to Claims leadership on high severity (Large Loss) and complex claims.
Properly code and issue payments under the correct exposure within authority.
Qualifications
Commercial Property Claims Specialist Qualifications
Required Bachelors degree required with focus on business, communication, construction, or insurance related field preferred, or equivalent experience may be considered.
Minimum eight years of multi-line or property claim experience required.
Experience handling complex property claims of more than $100,000 required.
Must possess a valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.
Designations in INS, AIC or similar professional insurance designation required or obtained within two years of hire.
Preferred Five years of field experience preferred.
Three to five years of commercial property claims experience preferred.
Experience in farming and agriculture industry preferred.
Designation in CPCU preferred.

This is a work from home (in Michigan) position primarily covering these Michigan counties: Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, Washtenaw, Wayne.
