Digital Library Federation
The Digital Scholarship Specialist partners with students, faculty, staff, and librarians to enhance learning, teaching, and scholarship through application of technologies and knowledge of the latest digital research methods with diverse teams. You will join a network of functional and subject experts, contributing to the evolution of digital scholarship and consultation services at the University of Michigan Library in close collaboration with the university community. You will facilitate a multifaceted Digital Scholarship Fellows program that will comprise student, faculty, and community fellows to meet campus needs and support interdisciplinary work. You will contribute to the longer-term sustainability of Digital Scholarship at the Library and on campus. As part of the Digital Scholarship team, you will help steward the broader Digital Scholarship community and support signature Digital Scholarship programs, such as the Anti-Racist Digital Research Institute, Douglass Day, and the Ann Arbor Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon. This position is designated as hybrid, working both remotely and in person. You will report to the Director of Digital Scholarship and Creative Spaces in the Learning and Teaching division. Learning and Teaching advances next century literacies, guides learning, and inspires curiosity through its programs and partnerships. You may supervise student employees, staff, or graduate fellows for Digital Scholarship services.
Responsibilities
Services (60%)
Coordinate and steward the Digital Scholarship Fellows program, which will focus on building infrastructure and support pathways for intentional interdisciplinary work that also explores additional research, creative, and pedagogical practices to meet needs and opportunities in the Library and on campus.
Programs (15%)
Assist in the development and creation of signature Digital Scholarship programs.
Provide consultation, collaboration, workshops, course-integrated instruction, and advocacy to help faculty, students, and staff from across departments to develop skills in these areas of digital scholarship.
Digital Scholarship Community Stewardship (15%)
Collaborate with Digital Scholarship Hub to promote digital scholarship activities.
Provide liaison services for multiple Digital Scholarship-related campus programs.
Research and Professional Development (10%)
Participate in ongoing learning and professional development relevant to position responsibilities and areas of interest and grow the mission of the library through participation in committees and programs.
Conduct original research on digital scholarship and other related areas to support the field.
Present and publish work relevant to the field in appropriate venues.
