Overview
Academic Neurologist - Movement Disorders position in the Department of Neurology at the University of Missouri - Columbia. This is a full-time fellowship-trained Movement Disorders Neurologist role within a vibrant, multi-specialty Neurology practice. The department treats patients with Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, dystonia, and other movement disorders. Clinical and some didactic teaching is expected, with the option to precept in resident clinic. Opportunities to participate in MER in the OR are available.
Responsibilities
Join a department of 30+ physicians and neuroscientists.
Collaborate with Neurosurgery, PM&R, Physical and Occupational Therapy, and Primary Care.
Assist in the department's growth, educate medical students and residents, and pursue other academic/research interests.
Use 7T MRI for clinical and research purposes.
Maintain a Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM practice schedule with no inpatient or night call.
Be eligible for all ranks commensurate with experience; leadership opportunities (e.g., outpatient clinic medical director) available as appropriate.
Potential for fellowship creation over time.
Department and Facilities As the largest Neurologic Care Team in mid-Missouri, the department offers facilities including:
A dedicated 28-bed Neurosciences Center with a 6-bed EMU
30-bed Neurosciences ICU
AANEM Lab Accreditation with Exemplary Status
NAEC Level IV Epilepsy program
DNV-Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center
Certified MDA/ALS clinics
An accredited Sleep Program
Outpatient infusion center
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: DO or MD medical degree; board-certified or board-eligible in neurology; residency trained; licensed or willing to obtain a license to practice in Missouri.
Preferred: Candidates will be evaluated on: interest in general neurology and open to sub-specialty in MS, Headache management, Neuromuscular disease, or Dementia care.
