Director, CE, Audiology and SLP Practices

to help shape the future of continuing education for our members.

In this role, you’ll provide expert guidance on clinical and policy issues that influence CE programming, ensuring it remains relevant, accessible, and aligned with member needs and regulatory standards. You’ll collaborate across ASHA teams, engage with CE Providers, and contribute to strategic initiatives that elevate the quality of learning experiences for ASHA members.

Description This part-time position provides expert guidance on clinical and policy issues in audiology and speech-language pathology that influence ASHA’s Continuing Education (CE) Program. The role enhances the quality, relevance, and accessibility of lifelong learning for ASHA members by aligning CE initiatives with member needs, organizational priorities, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Collaborate across ASHA teams to identify and share clinical trends and policy updates with ASHA CE and CE Providers, supporting the development of timely, relevant, and high-quality continuing education for members.

Conduct impartial CE Provider application reviews, maintain transparent communication, and build collaborative relationships with applicant organizations.

Oversee the processes for submitting and resolving complaints and ASHA Continuing Education Units appeals related to CE Providers, ensuring fair, transparent, and timely outcomes.

Provide member-focused perspectives to strengthen the CE Program’s value proposition and drive engagement. Represent ASHA CE at internal and external events, with occasional travel.

Help shape the strategic direction of ASHA CE by actively contributing to the development, execution, evaluation, and refinement of the program’s strategic plan.

Qualifications

5 or more years of current, clinical experience in the professions and experience with adult learning principles.

Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in audiology or speech-language pathology

Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.

Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with experience working collaboratively across teams and with external stakeholders.

Demonstrated expertise in audiology and/or speech-language pathology, with a strong understanding of current practices, trends, and continuing education needs in the field.

Experience with ASHA’s Continuing Education Standards or similar professional development framework.

Experience in fostering a collaborative community of practice.

Experience with strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs or initiatives.

Proven ability to lead complex, high-impact projects, ensuring strategic alignment and timely execution.

Sound judgment and impartiality in decision-making, particularly in evaluating applications, resolving complaints, and interpreting policy.

Proficiency in using data and technology to support program operations, decision-making, and continuous improvement.
