The Senior Product Officer – Venture Products plays a pivotal role within the NJEDA’s Venture Products Department. This position involves supporting angel and venture capital investment programs, enhancing economic growth in New Jersey. The officer collaborates closely with entrepreneurs, corporate stakeholders, and investment partners, ensuring the success of financial programs within the venture product sector. The ideal candidate will integrate strategic thinking with hands-on management and will focus on building relationships across sectors to enhance New Jersey’s innovation ecosystem. This role requires a dynamic individual with the ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively with various teams within the NJEDA. The candidate should be adept at steering product development initiatives, monitoring program performance, and aligning objectives with overarching economic goals. Additionally, the officer is tasked with maintaining compliance and performance metrics, encouraging innovation and economic prosperity in New Jersey. Responsibilities
Serve as the program subject matter expert promoting Venture Programs. Assist NJEDA’s Legislative Officer with OPRA requests. Manage day-to-day administrative functions for assigned products. Handle relationship management with external partners and potential applicants. Maintain a pipeline of potential program applicants. Oversee application review from submission through approval until the final closing. Lead public presentations at NJEDA Board meetings. Serve as a relationship manager for startups and venture capital firms. Lead various programs as an industry-leading expert to create economic growth. Provide input on policy and technical matters related to Venture Investing. Requirements
Knowledge in venture fund and startup investment underwriting. Understanding of GAAP and financial statements. Ability to understand investment documentation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM tools. Strong communication skills. 7-10 years of relevant business experience. Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Master’s preferred. Valid New Jersey driver’s license if necessary. Benefits
