Overview
Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding an Adult Inpatient Unit Chief to the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County. The Behavioral Health Center offers a comprehensive suite of services for mental health, including First Episode Psychosis, medical services, substance use treatment, and inpatient/outpatient services for adults and children. Our team includes adult and child/adolescent psychiatrists, psychologists, internists, nurses, social workers, and other professionals dedicated to compassionate, patient-centered care. Provides psychiatric consultation to unit/service Director, ensuring appropriate medication management and legal sign-off for admission, discharge, and other medically appropriate documentation. Areas of Responsibility
Adult Inpatient/ID-MH unit. Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provides direct psychiatric evaluation, assessment, and treatment. Assists in the completion of appropriate mental hygiene legal papers. Provides consultation and input to the multidisciplinary treatment team. Collaborates in running community and family meetings and maintains a therapeutic milieu. Consults in preparing transfer materials for state hospitals and other aftercare facilities. Assists in preparation for regulatory agency surveys and ensures compliance with standards. Supports ward coverage in coordination with the unit Director to ensure continuous patient care and documentation. Works with OPPWDD, NY Start/step-down units, residential settings, and other agencies to coordinate patient care. Additional Responsibilities
Participation in national START team medical directors study group. Training allied professionals in dual diagnosis of patients with ID/D distress and psychiatric disorders. Qualifications
Must be board eligible or board certified in Psychiatry. MD or DO from an accredited school of medicine. Completed residency training in Psychiatry. License to practice medicine in the State of New York. Wages and Benefits
Annual Base Salary: $288,000 based on 40-hour work week. Additional compensation available for extra call or sessional/per diem hours. Estimated total compensation and benefits package: approximately $420,800, including base salary, 401(k) contribution, sessional/per diem hours, CME reimbursement, PTO, medical/dental coverage, life/AD&D coverage, loan forgiveness potential, malpractice coverage, FSAs, and visa sponsorship consideration. Estimated annual compensation for 10 additional sessional/per diem hours per week: $104,000. 401(k) Company Contribution: 3% immediately; after one year, an additional 7% (no employee match required). Continuing Medical Education (CME) reimbursement. Generous PTO (vacation, sick, holidays, CME). Medical, prescription, and dental coverage with employee contributions below market rate. Life Insurance and AD&D coverage up to 2x salary (up to $300,000) at no cost; additional voluntary coverage available. Loan forgiveness eligibility through state or federal programs.
