The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, components, equipment, and services required for manufacturing operations. This role ensures the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods while maintaining high-quality standards, supporting production schedules, and building strong supplier relationships. The Buyer also contributes to strategic sourcing initiatives that drive efficiency and cost savings across the supply chain. This is an on-site position.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement & Sourcing
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers to meet manufacturing requirements for cost, quality, and delivery.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers.
- Manage purchase orders from requisition to delivery, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Supplier Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to quality, delivery, or service.
- Conduct supplier audits and participate in vendor evaluations.
- Inventory & Production Support
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and planning teams to ensure material availability.
- Manage inventory levels to minimize excess stock while avoiding shortages.
- Support new product introductions by sourcing new materials and components.
- Cost & Process Improvement
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through competitive sourcing, value analysis, and process improvements.
- Analyze market trends to identify risks and opportunities.
- Provide input into long-term sourcing strategies.
- Leadership & Collaboration
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and finance teams.
- Assist in developing and implementing procurement policies and best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
- 3-5 years of procurement or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship skills.
- Knowledge of manufacturing materials (e.g., metals, plastics, electronics, MRO supplies).
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional certifications (CPSM, CPIM, or equivalent) a plus.
- Strategic thinking with attention to detail.
- Ability to balance cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
- Results-driven and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
