Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician provides critical support to the entire manufacturing facility, ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing production downtime, and maintaining a safe work environment. This role is responsible for the upkeep, repair, adjustment, installation, and preventive maintenance of facility systems, machinery, and equipment. The technician will perform changeovers, set-ups, and participate in major rebuilds and facility projects. At times, this position may require extended hours, weekend work, or on-call support to meet business needs.

The Maintenance and Facilities team plays an essential role in the success of the organization by ensuring equipment operates at optimal levels so that high-quality products are delivered to customers on time and at the expected standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support process improvements and facility operations.

  • Apply principles of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and Good Manufacturing Practices in daily work.

  • Install, align, repair, overhaul, and maintain mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.

  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks including disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and calibration.

  • Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery.

  • Inspect parts for defects (breakage, wear, etc.) and record findings in the CMMS for follow-up.

  • Diagnose malfunctions using voltmeters and other diagnostic tools; test equipment after repairs to ensure functionality.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manufacturer manuals to guide proper installation and repair.

  • Provide training to operators on proper equipment use and features.

  • Record all maintenance activities, repairs, parts, and materials in the CMMS; requisition new parts as needed.

  • Prioritize safety in all tasks, including compliance with LOTO, Arc Flash, confined space, and hazardous material procedures.

  • Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on miscellaneous plant equipment.

  • Provide own tools with a lockable rolling toolbox/cart.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Skills Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.

  • Minimum of 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience (manufacturing environment ).

  • Strong electrical knowledge and troubleshooting skills highly desired.

  • Experience with food manufacturing, steam-related equipment, Lean Manufacturing, and HACCP .

  • Knowledge of pumps, piping, instrumentation, welding, hoists, cranes, and fine measurement devices is a plus.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Excel; comfortable using personal computers.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow safe work practices and effectively troubleshoot and repair mechanical devices.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, push, pull, squat, and use fine motor skills with hand/power tools and equipment.

  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs frequently; heavier weights with equipment or team lifting.

  • Ability to work in elevated positions up to 30 feet with proper safety precautions.

  • Requires continuous mental and visual focus while working around moving equipment, mechanical devices, and electrical systems.

  • Adequate vision, hearing, and speech to perform job functions.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to noise, dust, odors, non-toxic fumes, and temperature variations.

  • May require working in cramped spaces or elevated areas.

  • Must wear appropriate PPE (safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, hair nets, masks, uniforms, etc.).

  • Occasional exposure to inclement weather when working outdoors or in partially covered areas
