Job Summary:
The Sanitor II is responsible for performing advanced sanitation duties to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the production environment. This role supports food safety and quality standards by executing sanitation protocols, conducting inspections, and assisting with training and documentation. The Sanitor II may serve as a lead or mentor to entry-level sanitation staff.
Duties/Responsibilities: • Perform routine and deep cleaning of production equipment, floors, walls, and facility infrastructure. • Conduct allergen washdowns and post-production sanitation procedures. • Monitor and verify chemical concentrations and titrations; correct deviations as needed. • Install and maintain sanitation-related equipment (e.g., paper towels, soap, and sanitizer dispensers). • Conduct routine inspections for sanitation deficiencies and equipment damage, report findings to supervisors. • Support environmental testing procedures such as ATP swabbing and pathogen sampling. • Maintain sanitation logs and documentation in compliance with audit and regulatory standards. • Assist in training Sanitor I or Custodian-level staff on sanitation procedures and safety protocols. • Participate in sanitation audits and corrective action implementation. • Communicate with production and QA teams regarding sanitation needs or deficiencies
Required Skills/Abilities: • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety. • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English or Spanish. • Basic understanding of sanitation chemicals and safe handling procedures. • Familiarity with GMPs, HACCP, and food safety standards. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Education and Experience: • High school diploma or GED required. • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in industrial or food manufacturing sanitation. • Prior experience with sanitation chemicals and equipment preferred. • Familiarity with GMPs, HACCP, and food safety standards is a plus. • Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are a strong asset.
Working Conditions: • Must be able to work in cold, wet, and humid environments. • Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs for extended periods. • May involve working with strong cleaning chemicals and wearing PPE. • Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required. • Noise levels may be high in certain areas of the facility.
