Duties Description Efficiently and effectively edits, reviews and/or rewrites drafts for digital and print content, including but not limited to audit reports and other LGSA publications. Contributes to designing charts, figures and illustrations. Ensures materials are consistent with LGSA and OSC Style Guides and applicable professional/internal standards. Develops and provides training. Identifies and communicates improvement opportunities to the report development process.

This position can be located in any Regional Office or the Central Office.

Minimum Qualifications At least seven (7) years of experience in public relations, social media, and digital communications.

OR

At least one (1) year of experience as a Public Information Specialist 1 (Digital Content).

An Associate's degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Social Media, Digital Communications, or similar degree, can be substituted for two (2) years of general experience. A Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Social Media, Digital Communications, or similar degree can be substituted for four (4) years of general experience. A Master's degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Social Media, Digital Communications, or similar degree can be substituted for one (1) additional year of general experience (not to exceed five (5) years of total experience).

Additional Comments Preferred Qualifications/Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Strong editing skills • Knowledge of and experience working with various writing style guides • Strong written and oral communication skills • Strong facilitation skills • Ability to think and work independently, but also able to pivot to a team environment, as needed by the assignment • Ability to handle multiple and competing priorities • Continuous improvement mindset • Strong work ethic and positive attitude • Knowledge and use of Microsoft Suite of products (e.g., Word, Excel, Teams)

Telecommuting: The Office of the New York State Comptroller (OSC) supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based upon the agency's mission and operational needs. Generally, employees new to OSC will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks. After the initial 8 calendar week restriction, if an employee's primary residence location, duties, and work performance are aligned with telecommuting and operational needs they may be allowed to do so. Generally, OSC employees may telecommute up to 5 days per pay period but may be approved to telecommute less.
