TELAMON-TRC COMMITMENT TO TRAUMAINFORMED CARE:
Telamon-TRC has taken steps to shift ourorganization into a Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) model. This changes ourperceptions about the individuals that we work with, employees and customers,including families and children. A trauma-informed system of care providesservices that empower employees and customers, including families and children,to feel safe, welcomed and engaged at all levels of organizational interaction.Exchanges that could be potentially retraumatizing, or trigger traumaticreactions require thoughtfulness and non-judgement. Ongoing, as anorganization, we collaborate to educate employees about the effects ofviolence, victimization and trauma on individuals. POSITION SUMMARY:
Promotechild wellness and identify concerns early to help all children become ready forschool. Work with program staff and families to support the development of childrenwith special needs. Collaborates with community partners to build peer networks,link families and children to needed services, and support successfultransitions for children and families.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Meets federal, state, and programdocumentation requirements by maintaining accurate, objective, complete,timely, and well-organized child and family records, both on paper and in designatedon-line systems. Maintain confidentiality regarding students and families.
2. Assumes responsibility forprimary healthcare of assigned children at the center level in states. Preparesand maintains all required health records on enrolled children.
3. Administer medications inaccordance with policy. Provides first aid when needed.
4. Schedules health and dental examinationswith contracted physicians and dentists. Provides or arranges for transportationfor appointments or emergencies as needed.
5. Participates and/or conducts screeningson children, including children with disabilities, as well as in developingindividual service and health plans. Monitors records to make sure children areup to date on preventive and primary healthcare.
6. Works collaboratively with rangeof community specialists (e.g., medical, dental, speech, nutrition, mentalhealth) by sharing child and family information, identifying approaches tosolving issues, and developing follow-up plans.
7. Promotes a unified approach tosharing child information with families by engaging in joint planning with teachersand other specialists to prepare for home visits and other family contacts. Participatesin case management and transition meetings.
8. Assists education staff inimplementing health, dental, mental health safety, and nutrition activitieswithin the classroom.
9. Provides information andeducation to parents and the community about available programs and other communityresources. This can be done in-person, by telephone or a group presentationformat.
10. Documents implementation ofsafety policy and procedures at center level in accordance with program andcorporate policies/procedures.
11. Where applicable, ensures proper documentationand implementation meet USDACACFP requirements.
12. The person in this position musthave the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
13. Protects the safety of childrenby ensuring the implementation of active supervision techniques to ensure childis left alone or unsupervised at any time.
14. Ensures the mobilization and documentationof matching/in-kind funds. Provides health and nutrition training and technicalassistance to staff and parents.
15. Inventories and orders healthrelated supplies.
16. Assist with recruitment ofchildren, including children with disabilities.
17. Participates in staff and parentmeetings, committees and training sessions.
18. Works in cooperation with supervisorto develop and document progress on professional development plan. Actively engagesin professional development activities to increase qualifications in accordancewith Corporation's Core Values.
19. May perform duties of other staffmembers (Teacher, Bus Monitor, Center Aide, Teacher's Assistant) in time ofstaff shortage.
20. Fills in on a temporary basis forfacility staff when the staff member needs to leave the classroom for shortduration.
21. Work may require the flexibilityto stay until all children have left the program.
22. Perform all other duties assignedby Supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no direct supervisory duties butis expected to train or explain work procedures to others.
