Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to lead the development of low-level and system software for Shyld AI’s autonomous devices. In this role, you will design and optimize embedded systems running on NVIDIA Jetson platforms and microcontrollers, integrating real-time sensing, AI inference, and device control into a reliable platform deployed in mission-critical hospital environments.
You will collaborate closely with hardware, robotics, and cloud teams to deliver scalable, production-ready embedded solutions that are safe, secure, and optimized for performance.
Key Responsibilities
Software Systems Development
- Architect and develop software for embedded platforms (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson, ARM-based microcontrollers).
- Implement drivers, firmware, and low-level system code for sensors, actuators, and communication modules.
- Ensure robust real-time performance for safety-critical UV-C disinfection operations.
System Integration & Optimization
- Integrate multi-modal sensor inputs (ToF, cameras, thermal, occupancy detection) into embedded pipelines.
- Optimize AI model deployment and inference on edge devices for low latency and efficiency.
- Develop communication protocols between edge devices, cloud systems, and external hospital infrastructure.
Reliability, Safety, and Compliance
- Implement error handling, watchdog systems, and diagnostics for field-deployed devices.
- Ensure security, data integrity, and compliance with healthcare and device safety standards.
- Support regulatory documentation and validation of embedded systems.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work with robotics, AI, and operations teams to support field deployments and product iterations.
- Mentor junior engineers and establish best practices for embedded development, testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in software development.
- Strong proficiency in Python and C/C++ , with solid knowledge of real-time systems and embedded Linux.
- Experience with NVIDIA Jetson, ARM Cortex-M, or similar platforms is a plus.
- Familiarity with RTOS, device drivers, and firmware development .
- Experience with AI/ML model deployment on embedded hardware a plus.
- Strong debugging, optimization, and system-level problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of hardware/software co-design, communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, etc.), and edge-to-cloud integration.
- Experience working on safety-critical or regulated products (healthcare, robotics, automotive, aerospace) preferred.
