Nautilus Environmental, in San Diego, CA, is currently seeking a Full-Time Laboratory Technician to join our San Diego team of aquatic toxicologists. Nautilus is a consulting laboratory focused on the analysis, integration, interpretation, validation, and application of high-quality toxicity data. Our mission is to provide trusted, comprehensive ecotoxicity testing services that empower our partners to make informed and data-driven environmental decisions. Ideal candidates will possess the following: An associate degree (required); Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field (preferred) 1 – 4 years of relevant lab experience (preferred) Previous experience in an environmental toxicology lab or coursework (highly preferred) Knowledge of analytical method, analytical instruments, general lab practices and lab safety Ability to work independently and in a team Good organizational skills and strong communication skills Strong understanding of aseptic technique in the laboratory As a key member of the laboratory team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including: Preparing samples for analysis Conducting a variety of bioassays Sample receiving and processing Maintaining organism cultures Cleaning of laboratory glassware Maintaining clean laboratory areas Maintaining organized records of sample preparation and analysis Assisting with sample organization and disposal Assisting the Group Leaders and analysts in acquiring and inventorying consumables, chemicals, and parts for instrumentation Complying with Nautilus’s Quality Assurance Program and other policies (including the Health and Safety Plan) Other duties as assigned The pay range for this position is $22.00 – $24.00 hourly (DOE). This is a full-time position (on a 4/10s workweek schedule, working Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays). Full-time employees are eligible for the following benefits after a brief waiting period: medical, dental, vision, life/AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability insurance, health and dependent care FSA plans, employee assistance program, 15 days of paid time off per year for sick leave and/or vacation, 6 paid holidays per year, 3 days paid bereavement leave, and 401(k) (with up to 3% employer match after eligibility criteria are met). The laboratory operates weekends, so candidates must be willing to work some weekends and holidays.
