Legal Counsel

ROLE OVERVIEW As Legal Counsel, North America for Charlotte Tilbury you will report directly to the AVP, Head of Legal, North America. You will provide legal support in North America and also support on an ad hoc basis with Latin America delivering to the business the very highest standards of legal advice and regulatory compliance, whilst supporting the business with its international growth. You will support with negotiating and drafting a wide range of commercial contracts relating to retailers (bricks & mortar and e-commerce), creative services, VIP and talent, partnerships, sponsorship, endorsements, IP licences, procurement framework agreements and statements of work across all functions (e.g., supply chain, store design, visual merchandising, events, etc.). You will also be responsible for advising on marketing campaigns across all media, product packaging, brand and product collaboration and consumer law, including but not limited to FTC endorsement and green guides, FDA MoCRA and regional data privacy compliance. As required, you will assist other areas of the business and legal team on a broad range of legal matters, including litigation, digital and technology (including AI). You will also support the legal team to develop and enhance effective working processes with the business to ensure that the business’ objectives are achieved within appropriate timescales and with the relevant stakeholder approval. RESPONSIBILITIES Assisting with legal affairs relating to commercial, consumer, marketing and advertising matters, with supervision from the AVP, Head of Legal, North America Supporting the business with day-to-day legal queries, identifying legal risks and providing commercially sound advice Assisting with the development and implementation of legal procedures and policies to ensure the business’ compliance with applicable laws Drafting, negotiating and reviewing contracts, legal documents and other regulatory or contractual requirements Reviewing marketing collateral across all media and ensuring regulatory compliance Supporting the business with legal proceedings, working with outside counsel when required Preparing and conducting legal training for staff KEY ATTRIBUTES/SKILLS Communication and Stakeholder Management Accurate, clear and concise communication (written and oral) of legal and non-legal information Knows the importance of good working relationships (internal and external); communicates and builds trust and rapport Demonstrates presentation skills that effectively convey a message Organizes and coordinates workload and priorities to provide timely and effective support Show flexibility and overcomes difficulties to achieve results within targets and timescales Demonstrates and displays the Charlotte Tilbury values at all times Professional Excellence and Business Acumen Qualified legal professional Researches effectively to develop understanding of the law or specialist area Drafts and negotiates in a logical manner using standard templates and precedents Takes ownership of documentation produced Applies knowledge and skills relevant to role Works with a commercial mind set Exercises judgment on when to seek advice or escalate Demonstrates structured analysis and interpretation of legal and non-legal information Recognizes, understands and communicates project risks Knows how activities, processes and systems relevant to the role fit together and interact Understands the foundations of the beauty/retail market and seeks to learn more Demonstrates understanding and awareness of other cultures, jurisdictions and business approaches Shares ideas and identifies and acts on opportunities to contributes to the team’s knowledge bank (templates / play books) for their specialist area Personal Conduct Enthusiastic, responsible and accurate in the work environment Demonstrates ability to work in a changing and fast paced environment responding well to change and challenges Hungry to learn - seeks feedback and learns from it Understands priorities Asks questions to understand context, clarify deadlines and understand expectations Encourages and supports others to adapt to change Takes the initiative and demonstrates personal ownership to get things done despite barriers and obstacles MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS J.D. degree from an A.B.A. accredited law school Must be currently admitted to NY Bar and in good standing 2-4 years of relevant legal experience Solid training and qualifications from a leading national or international law firm or reputable business Experience of working for a global brand and advising on multi-jurisdictional issues is highly desirable WORKING ENVIRONMENT Office based in NYC (hybrid working, office based for 3 days per week) Charlotte Tilbury is a dynamic and fun place to work. As a result, the business drivers can change regularly, and the Legal Counsel, North America will be expected to work at a demanding and efficient pace. Base Salary Range
