About the Job
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Director of Network Engineering to lead our core networking team. This role involves overseeing the design, implementation, and optimization of Gartner's core networking infrastructure, ensuring seamless connectivity and reliability for our global operations. The ideal candidate will possess a deep technical background, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive innovative solutions in a fast-paced environment.
What You’ll Do
Strategic Leadership: Define and implement the strategic technical direction for Gartner’s network footprint, including in-office infrastructure across global locations. Develop and execute a comprehensive core networking strategy that aligns with Gartner’s business objectives and future growth plans.
Infrastructure Management: Oversee 24x7x365 network operations ensuring availability, performance, and security.
Team Leadership: Direct and mentor a diverse team of 15 network engineers across the USA, EMEA, and Asia, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Network Design & Implementation: Oversee the architecture, design, and deployment of core networking solutions, including routing, switching, and high availability.
Performance Optimization: Monitor and analyze network metrics, implementing enhancements to ensure optimal system efficiency and stability.
Security & Compliance: Establish and enforce network security protocols, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices to protect Gartner’s data and infrastructure.
Vendor Management: Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers, evaluating and selecting third-party solutions that support networking objectives.
Budget Management: Develop and oversee budget for infrastructure refresh, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and fiscal responsibility.
Cost Control: Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives.
Reliability Improvement: Develop and enforce change control processes and standardization initiatives to significantly reduce outages and enhance overall reliability.
Cybersecurity Enhancement: Elevate enterprise risk management by deploying advanced network and data protection solutions and ransomware backup strategies to safeguard against external threats.
Resource Management: Implement metrics-based reporting structures using observability tools to monitor infrastructure and network health and prioritize maintenance activities.
Collaboration Across Teams: Partner with IT and engineering teams to integrate core networking solutions with cloud services, data centers, and other technology initiatives.
Innovation & Technology Adoption: Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in networking, evaluating potential applications for Gartner’s infrastructure and services.
What You Need
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
12-18 years of experience in networking engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role focused on core networking.
Proven expertise in core networking technologies, including LAN, WAN, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and network security protocols.
Basic understanding of cloud networking and hybrid cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, etc.).
Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
In-depth knowledge of network technologies and security practices.
Understanding cybersecurity principles, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
Experience deploying data protection solutions, including ransomware backup strategies.
Proficiency in analytics tools for monitoring infrastructure health and performance.
Capability to leverage data-driven insights for decision-making and operational improvements.
Relevant certifications (e.g., CCIE, CCNP, CISSP) are highly desirable.
