New River Community College
The Provost serves as the Chief Academic Officer of the university and provides vision, academic and spiritual leadership, and support for all academic programs and personnel. Responsibilities include oversight to faculty, deans and delivering overall direction and effective management of the university’s academic programs in support of Simpson University’s mission, managing plans to deliver priorities, and development and contribution to the strategic plan for the university.
Qualifications:
Earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. at accredited university and five years of college level teaching experience
Active membership in an evangelical denomination. Special consideration may be given to members of the Christian and Missionary Alliance
Record of success in college or university level academic administrative leadership
Proven relationship builder and communicator with experience leading diverse work teams and developing organization-wide strategy for program excellence
Performance that would verify the importance of a culture of assessment with an inclination toward use of portfolios
Demonstrated integrity and faith commitment, with a history of striving for excellence with experience leading others to new levels of effectiveness and programmatic impact; ability to successfully deal with sensitive or confidential information
Exceptional time management skills; listening, written verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Successful team management skills with the ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team including new artificial intelligence software and accreditation compliance software (e.g. watermark)
Experience/Demonstrated value utilizing assessment and data to improve outcomes
Technologically astute with the capability of managing in multiple enterprise modalities and platforms; must have excel and illustration data competency
Ability to exhibit poise, composure, and confidence when confronting stressful or high-pressure situations
Ability to take initiative and promote innovation within their area
Capacity to act and revise policy to be nimble without sacrifice of academic rigor
Knowledge of modern and complex practices associated with performance accountability
Organizational development, personnel management, budget and resources development, and strategic planning skills
Demonstrated success developing and monitoring systems to manage both operational and programmatic work that involves high levels of collaboration

Essential Functions:
Provide leadership to university deans, faculty and all academic programs that inspires outstanding academic performance at SU and professional advancement of faculty
Coordinate and enable the activities of the deans, faculty and academic staff
Articulate a balanced vision of the value of teaching, research and service, guided by a clear understanding of SU’s mission and goals
Ensure academic affairs is working collaboratively in support of the University President
Responsible for overseeing completion of annual academic document updates, including SU catalog, faculty handbook, academic master plan, etc.
Responsible for setting visionary University goals (short term and long term) in cooperation with the President and cabinet, and successfully meeting those goals
Responsible for budget development, implementation, monitoring and communication for Academic Affairs budget
Leads institutional planning in academic areas and collaborate with Director of Institutional Planning and Research to contribute to institutional planning for facilities, student services, and other areas that impact academic programs
In collaboration with President and President’s Cabinet members, provide oversight for academic program review with an emphasis on formal program reviews for accreditation compliance
Partner with President to oversee institutional accreditation processes as well as the preparation of institutional performance reports
Oversee the curricular planning and growth and faculty development programs
Facilitate and encourage faculty development activities
Ensure that academic policies are effectively implemented and work with the Faculty President to improve and update policies as needed
Represent the university to diverse constituencies
Must consistently demonstrate capacity and positive reputation of engaging faculty and students in and out of the classroom
Responsible for providing an unyielding commitment to the University mission, faith and Cabinet as a team of teams
Assist the University President in developing, supporting and leading strategic planning development and accreditation portfolio for the University
Responsible for fostering a culture of lifelong learning and connectivity between departments and their graduates
Additional Responsibilities:
Participate as needed to collaborate in fundraising projects
Provide oversight of faculty searches
