Job Description

One of Tampa Bay's largest healthcare company is seeking a VP of Managed Care Sales to join their team. The ideal candidate will possess strong medical sales experience coupled with deep knowledge of Managed Care.

The VP of Managed Care Sales is responsible for achieving assigned managed care account objectives including the maintenance and expansion of relations with strategically important customers. This position represents the entire range of company products and services to assigned customers and is responsible for maintaining payer relations and payer satisfaction in an ever changing reimbursement landscape with the objective to clearly demonstrate the value, efficacy and cost effectiveness of the company's services.


Functions:

  • Works collaboratively and effectively across functional areas of the company to facilitate development of value added services that differentiate the company as a desirable business partner in the managed care market.
  •  Communicates to payers, the clinical services and specialties of each of our services and the value proposition for the payer.
  •  Identifies specific managed care outcomes or issues that may be contributing to the blocking of managed care contracts.
  •  Identifies and attains contracts with high target payers in specific markets or product areas as identified by the reimbursement and field sales teams based on non-par payments, declined referrals and new market expansion.
  •  Maintains profitable business relationships with existing customers and looks for opportunities for growth.
  •  Accurately identifies, interprets and negotiates contractual language that has the potential to enhance or decrease reimbursement.
  •  Educates health plans on our products and services to create coverage criteria which benefits the patient and company
  •  Monitors company relationships with managed care organizations and plan administrators to maximize utilization of company services.
  •  Acts as liaison with managed care plan on complex referral authorization or claims-related problems and as intermediary when needed in resolving issues between internal departments and managed care plans.
  •  Communicates and prepares reports on activity, changes in industry, new business opportunities, and statistical information regarding payer market share and coverage


Qualifications:

  • 7 – 10 years of related work experience
  •  Proven experience reviewing and effectively negotiating managed care contracts
  •   Clinical background (RN, RRT, RPSGT) is advantageous but not required
  •   Demonstrated success in selling population management, health management, disease management  or other medical services to Managed Care Organizations.
  • Deep knowledge and experience contracting with private and government payers.
  •   Ability to establish rapport with diverse payer networks at a senior level.
  •   A keen understanding of payer needs and perspectives.
  • Skilled at end to end contract negotiations through closure.
  •   Superior negotiating and analytical skills.
  • Requires excellent presentation and organization skills.
  •   Entails travel extensively as needed to meet with payers.
  •   Represents the company in a variety of public settings including conferences, trade organizations and governmental agencies.
