TAS Environmental Services LP is seeking a Mechanic. As a mechanic you will perform maintenance work, truck repairs in accordance with factory and industry standards. The qualified candidate will run diagnostics on vehicles, communicate and work closely with team members to meet company goals. This job can involve working in a dirty and physically demanding environment, so a willingness to handle strenuous physical labor is a must.

Responsibilities

• General inspection of vehicles, trailers, equipment; run and analyze diagnostic testing; minor and major repairs on trucks and trailers.
• Conduct regular preventative maintenance on service trucks, including inspections, tire rotations and oil changes.
• Knowledge and understanding of ABS systems, suspension, steering, leaks, wheel alignment and balancing, electrical systems.
• Inspect and replace bearings, lights, brakes, coolant.
• Maintain parts inventory, requesting purchase orders for ordering of parts and necessary items.
• Collaborate with team in diagnosing problems with vehicles and plan repairs.
• Maintain accurate records of each repair performed on vehicles.
• Coordinating with external repair shops
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Competencies

• Good problem-solving skills to address unexpected issues
• Desire to work as a team, while helping and interacting respectfully with each other

Education & Licensing

• Minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably in diesel mechanic
• Valid Class B driver’s license; Class A is a plus
• TWIC card preferred
• ASE Diesel Certification is preferred

Physical & Mental Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing. The employee must frequently lift or move items up to 50 pounds. May occasionally deal with heights. Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, employees and managers. Ability to present facts effectively in oral and written form. Ability to read, write and do mathematics. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment, including respiratory protection. The role may include both office setting and physical jobsite work and may require working in confined spaces when needed.
