About the Role

Join Our Team: Seeking a Fleet Mechanic Apprentice. This is a full-time position in Paramus, NJ. The role involves supporting diesel mechanics in maintenance and repairs to ensure vehicle reliability and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintenance and repairs: Support senior diesel mechanics in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, transmissions, and driveline components.
  • Diesel engines: Assist in removal, installation, disassembly, and reconditioning of diesel engine components and systems. Perform preventive maintenance according to manufacturer specifications to ensure vehicle reliability and longevity.
  • Quality assurance: Ensure repairs and maintenance meet industry standards. Complete test drives to verify proper and safe operation of repaired vehicles.
  • Tool and equipment use: Properly use, care for, and store shop tools and diagnostic equipment; follow lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Detail-oriented: Write thorough inspection reports and repair plans. Keep electronic maintenance logs up to date.
  • Safety and cleanliness: Follow workplace safety policies to maintain a clean and safe work environment.

What Sets You Apart

  • Experienced professionals with diesel mechanical background; Cummins and Detroit engines experience preferred. ASE Diesel Certification or an associate degree is valued but not required.
  • Problem solving: Strong troubleshooting and repair planning skills; computer diagnostic skills are a plus (training provided).
  • Team player: Able to work in all weather conditions; willingness to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Experience: Ability to carry out maintenance duties independently; experience in the motor coach industry preferred.
  • Safety champion: Adhere to and promote safety standards.
