About the Role
We are seeking an experienced System Analyst with expertise inJava, COBOL, or Lotus Notes to support a large-scale mainframe migration project transitioning legacy systems to a modern Java-based environment. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in at least two of these core technologies and will play a key role in analyzing, documenting, and modernizing complex enterprise systems.
This is a hands-on technical role that involves system analysis, code interpretation, microservices/API development, and integration across various enterprise platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze existing systems and read legacy source code (COBOL, Java, Lotus Notes) to understand and document business processes in clear, non-technical language.
Design and develop RESTful APIs and microservices usingJava and Spring Boot.
Create OpenAPI specifications aligned with REST standards and best practices.
Deploy and manage API proxies on MuleSoft Flex Gateway.
Integrate with DB2, SOAP services, Mainframe systems, and external REST APIs.
Contribute to the modernization and migration of enterprise applications from mainframe to Java-based platforms.
Apply best practices in microservices architecture, design patterns, and systemmonitoring.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, design solutions, and ensure successful migration outcomes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
1+ year of experience as a System Analyst, Software Engineer, or in a similar technical role.
Strong expertise in at least two of the following: COBOL,Java, Lotus Notes.
Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, REST API,OpenAPI Specification, SOAP, and microservices development.
Ability to interpret legacy code and document complex processes for business stakeholders.
Experience integrating applications with DB2, SOAP,Mainframe, and REST services.
Hands-on experience with API deployment on MuleSoft Flex Gateway.
Solid understanding of microservices architecture, design patterns, andmonitoring tools.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to bridge technical and business language.
