Overview
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients who come in for routine health needs or for insights into health decisions. The PSR II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures. The PSR II interacts directly with patients and creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and performing phlebotomy in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. The PSR II demonstrates Leadership Behaviors with a focus on process excellence and sensitivity to confidentiality and patient information. Successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor0s office, a patient service center, or as business needs dictate.
Under the direction of the area supervisor, perform daily activities accurately and on time. Maintain a safe and professional environment. Perform verification of patient demographic information and initials, including post-venipuncture verification that tubes were labeled in the patients presence and that the name on the label is correct. Maintain required records and documentation. Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
Responsibilities
- Draw blood samples and prepare specimens for lab testing following established practices and procedures.
- Verify patient demographics and ensure proper labeling with patient presence and consent.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Foster a professional, trustworthy environment and communicate procedures clearly to patients.
- Work under supervision and adapt to assignment location (doctors office, patient service center, or other locations as needed).
Job Requirements and Skills
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.

- Decision-making based on established procedures and good judgment.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver license, and clean driving record if applicable.

Training and Education
- Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.
- Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Medical training (medical assistant or paramedic) preferred. Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
- Work Experience: Three years phlebotomy experience required (including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections). Minimum 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred. Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred. Keyboard/data entry experience.
