Summary
This position is responsible for receiving, storing, and issuing materials, equipment, and other items from the stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard. Following appropriate safety guidelines and uses safe work habits. The position is located in our Mobile, AL Operations Center.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Receives, counts, and delivers/pulls stock items, records data manually or using a computer; moves freight, stock, and other materials to and from storage areas. Loading docks, delivery or pick-up vehicles and parts counter by hand or using trucks, forklifts, and other equipment; packs and unpacks items to stock on shelves in stockrooms, warehouse or storage yards; stores items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
- Cleans and maintains supplies, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with department policies and regulations; disposes of damaged or defective items or returns them to vendors at the warehouse manager's direction.
- Assists other warehouse workers
- Performs daily inventory cycle counts and investigates discrepancies to identify the cause of count error.
- All other duties as assigned
Essential Characteristics and Competencies
- Ability to learn and become proficient in SAP/Warehouse computer applications transactions and related tasks. Ability to read, write and interpret work-related documents.
- Ability to work effectively with others in a group or team. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers and supervisors.
- Requires making decisions that affect co-workers and/or the image of the organization.
- Ability to follow appropriate safety guidelines and use safe work habits
Supervisory Responsibilities
Required Education (certifications, licenses)
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Required knowledge, skill and abilities
- A valid Alabama Driver's License
- 2 - 3 years of warehouse experience (preferred)
Physical demands, environment and schedule
- —the ability to work in confined spaces and maneuver in awkward positions.
- Includes exposure to contaminants, exposure to sounds, and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable. Ability to work in very hot (above 90 F degrees) and very cold (below 32 F degrees) temperatures and extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions. Requires working outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions
- Requires exposure to hazardous equipment and conditions. Requires exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stings
- Requires wearing applicable protective or safety equipment.
- May require some travel.
