Job Description/Summary

The part-time General Hardware Salesperson sells hardware, including, but not limited to, nails, bolts, screws, hand and power tools, electrical equipment, plumbing supplies, paint, and pipe products such as ABS, PVC, and ADS pipes and fittings. Some hardware or construction experience is preferred. Bilingual candidates are also preferred. A working knowledge of all kinds of hardware products, with an emphasis on Baldwin, Emtek, and Specialty Hardware, is required for this position. Attention to detail and quality customer service skills are essential to the performance of this job. Being able to effectively communicate with customers and co-workers is also essential. The applicant must be team-oriented and be able to work well with others. The applicant should expect to be on their feet for most of the day, and while this job requires mostly indoor work, it can be physically demanding. Applicants should be capable of lifting packages in the 25 – 50 pound range and be able to bend down to reach products on the lower shelves as well as reach up to products on the higher shelves.

Basic Duties and Responsibilities and Competencies for this job include, but are not limited to, the following

• Providing exemplary customer service. You will be interacting with customers on a daily basis, so the interaction must always be professional, courteous and friendly
• Retrieving merchandise from stockroom
• Advising customers of products that fit their needs for specific projects
• Stocking and maintaining items on shelves
• Be able to think quickly and come up with creative solutions to customer concerns or questions
• Exemplary communication skills. Bi-lingual is preferred
• Some hardware or construction experience is preferred
