The Manufacturing Engineer will lead, develop, create, and manage all aspects of the manufacturing world at Intergalactic to help achieve all strategic, contractual, and tactical milestones from the time that a new production program is awarded to the final delivery of contracted intellectual and physical product to the customer. This role will support in driving operations through impeccable documentation for successful completion of high-quality hardware, and is responsible for process creation supporting the organization’s strategic direction and for creating and managing long-term goals.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Maintain effective communication on all aspects of the program among the project team to ensure all goals, tasks, and deliverables are understood clearly throughout the entire program.
- Oversees day-to-day floor activities, a strong leader in operations.
- Lead efforts in design for manufacturing and lean manufacturing practices.
- Support key decisions by working cross-functionally across departments to achieve program objectives.
- Lead the manufacturing activities through creative and clear processes that result in high-quality hardware assembly, integration, and test.
- Design tools and machines used to manufacture products.
- Review production program equipment, hardware, and tooling; make recommendations for repairs or replacement.
- Oversee the development of new processes, methods, and production controls.
- Install new equipment and ensure that it operates correctly; train others to operate new machinery and test equipment.
- Prepare operations manuals for new or existing hardware assembly, integration, and test.
- Maintain knowledge of new and developing manufacturing technology, equipment, and applications; apply this knowledge to recommend and implement new technology and processes.
- Design, implement, and review the procedures involved in the manufacturing process.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Manufacturing Engineering or a related field
- 5 years of experience working professionally in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, production engineering, or an equivalent technical role
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the aerospace industry
Desired Characteristics
- Experience in thermal systems management
- Lean manufacturing experience
- Test experience
