Overview
Job title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Project Duration: 12-months of Contract
Base pay range: $40.00/hr - $43.00/hr
Location: Portland, OR
What you will work on
- Conduct a thorough analysis of current capabilities across apparel and footwear, including materials, manufacturing processes, and quality control measures
- Identify gaps and areas for optimization in current processes and tools
- Develop and implement strategies to improve colour and material quality, reduce defects, and enhance overall product integrity
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process enhancements and ensure alignment with business objectives
- Develop and maintain relationships with Engineers who manage our suppliers and factories to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulations
- Analyze data and metrics to identify trends and opportunities for optimization
- Develop and present reports and recommendations to senior leadership on product integrity initiatives and progress
Who will you work with
- As a key member of the Product Integrity Team, you will be responsible for ensuring color, material, and product excellence across our product lines, working closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and quality.
- This role will collaborate with our partners across Design, Development, Sourcing, Standards & Governance, Engineering, Material Vendors, and Factories.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Textile Science, Materials Science, Engineering, or a combination of relevant education, experience, and training
- Minimum 5 years of experience in product development, quality assurance, or a related field, preferably in the footwear and/or apparel industry
- End-to-end experience in footwear and/or apparel, from concepting to manufacturing, who can bring a deep understanding of the product development process to our team
- Strong knowledge of textile manufacturing, dyeing, finishing, printing, testing, and industry material trends
- Intermediate technical materials knowledge, including fibres, yarns, knits, wovens, and materials testing/inspection
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify gaps and develop solutions
- Strong verbal and written communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma would be a plus
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly and concisely. Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel is needed
- Ability to work independently, proactively, self-motivated, positive work attitude, attention to detail, organized, & a strong sense of responsibility
- Intermediate experience in Smartsheet, Tableau, Miro, and Slack would be a plus
- Project and time management skills; commitment to delivering results on time
