Position Description Summary: Responsible for loading and unloading freight accurately, inventory control, rotation and inspection and other warehouse related duties. Act as lead liaison between Warehouse Manager and assigned areas of the warehouse. Provide direction to warehouse employees while performing individual warehouse responsibilities in a specific functional area. Serve as a local subject matter expert with regards to warehouse processes and equipment training.

Responsibilities

• Load inbound and outbound freight to and from vehicles and containers
• Unload inbound and outbound containers and sort according to size of freight and destination
• Read, decode, and decipher freight coding to expedite movement and tracing
• Reconcile driver pickup and delivery manifests
• Label, weigh, and dimensionalize freight
• Perform cleanup activities to ensure safety and cleanliness of dock
• Record damaged shipments and misrouted freight on applicable reports
• Communicate work area needs to Warehouse Supervisor
• Determine daily tasks, workloads and coordinate staffing with Warehouse Supervisor
• Delegate warehouse tasks in assigned area in conjunction with Warehouse Supervisor
• Identify system or process issues and communicate to Warehouse Supervisor
• Coordinate trucking transportation in and out of the warehouse
• Maintain quality standards for warehouse storage and service including communication to internal and external customers
• Maintain and ensure a safe working environment
• Provide training to employees regarding warehouse operations, including equipment
• Provide feedback on trainees to Warehouse Supervisor/Manager
• Document training needs and status as needed or requested
• Complete relevant training forms (certifications, observations, reports)

Qualifications

This is a specialist level position. High school diploma or equivalent required. Generally 4-6 years of experience preferred. Must be familiar with OSHA regulations, able to operate a variety of equipment such as a forklift and a computer, and have strong organizational, inventory and accounting skills. Must be able to be certified on all necessary equipment relevant to training. Must maintain an acceptable safety record and be in good standing for training associates.

Knowledge and Skills - Good interpersonal skills; OSHA familiarity; ability to operate forklift and computer systems; strong organizational, inventory and accounting skills.

Must be able to pass any required background checks, clearances, and/or drug and alcohol tests as part of essential functions.
