Position
Forklift Driver Operator
Location: Nichols, NY
Salary: Competitive pay starting at $23.23 hourly.
Hours: Night shift on a 2/2/3 schedule (two days on, two days off, three days on). Then days on/off rotate the following week. This is a 12‑hour shift.
Position Summary
Crown Cork & Seal’s North American Beverage Packaging Division has an opening for a Fork Truck Operator in a manufacturing facility located in Nichols, New York. This facility will manufacture aluminum cans for the beverage industry. This role transports inventory and materials (raw materials and finished goods) throughout the operation floor and warehouse areas at a high‑speed, state‑of‑the‑art metal packaging manufacturing facility. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Responsibilities
- Ensures all equipment, guards, and safety devices are in place at all times, and follows safe work procedures and safety rules.
- Operates powered industrial trucks to transport inventory and load tractor trailers for shipment.
- Transports inventory in the warehouse to correct locations and stages orders for shipment.
- Understands daily production schedule and communicates with management, leads, and coworkers accordingly.
- Performs visual inspection of aluminum cans and packaging quality.
- Monitors schedules, equipment, or processes, and reports problems to supervisor.
- Assists with Material Movers (Line drivers) or other forklift operations when necessary.
- Follows all SOPs (standard operating procedures) and communicates with proper personnel as concerns or issues arise.
- Assists Quality Assurance in locating pallets for sampling.
- Keeps equipment and all areas safe, clean, and organized through proper housekeeping.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications / Requirements
- 3+ years of forklift experience in a manufacturing setting (high-speed manufacturing preferred).
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion and regularly stand, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; climbing or balancing may be required.
- Must be able to work twelve (12) hour shifts, both day and evening.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; able to work in a team environment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously and maintain attention to detail.
- Effective record-keeping skills.
