Description
Medical Assistants are unlicensed assistive personnel who work under the direct supervision of a physician or nurse practitioner. They participate in total patient care in ambulatory Hematology-Oncology clinics, recognizing normal and abnormal signs and symptoms and providing support during life-threatening emergencies. MAs may perform basic administrative, clerical, and technical supportive services when supervision, training, specific authorization, and records are in place. Salary range: $28.06/hr - $37.02/hr Qualifications
Required: Medical assistant diploma or certificate from an accredited school (ASSCS, ACCET, CAAHEP, or ABHES) Or, national certification issued by CMA, NCCT, or AMT Or, completion of a medical assistant program plus at least 10 hours of training in administering injections, skin tests, venipuncture, and related procedures High School Diploma, GED, or transcripts Knowledge of symptomology and medical emergencies Ability to administer CPR Skill in administering medications (oral, IM, subcutaneous) Skilled in venipuncture adhering to OSHA PPE standards Ability to obtain vital signs and assist in emergencies Proficient in computerized patient systems and medical terminology Courtious interpersonal and verbal communication skills Skill in performing EKGs and assisting with procedures Ability to order and maintain supplies Ability to organize tasks and facilitate patient flow Flexibility to work in back and front office Knowledge of procedures like audiometry, spirometry, skin removals, etc. Ability to perform quality control and waived tests Knowledge of safety protocols for biohazardous materials Ability to work overtime in emergencies Punctuality and good attendance Customer service skills Physical ability to lift 30 lbs or more Highly Preferred: Current CA Phlebotomy License (CPT)
