Medical Assistant
Medical Assistants work collaboratively as an active member of the interdisciplinary team to provide patient-centered care across the continuum. They also provide an excellent patient experience, high quality outcomes, and improved productivity for the team. Specific responsibilities include: Participate in daily huddles with patient care team(s) Prepare patient charts for providers Review patient registries and identify preventative care due for patients Assist in preventive care outreach initiatives Obtain vitals Assist in obtaining medical records Perform screening procedures as indicated Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during exams Prepare sterile fields Perform phlebotomy and process specimens Prepare and administer medications and vaccines, including intramuscular and intradermal injections as directed by provider Serve as a preceptor for new staff Provide occasional coverage support for other MAHEC ambulatory offices Assist in administrative duties as needed, including handling calls Participate in the process improvement of new and existing workflows Actively embrace and support divisional and organizational quality initiatives Support pop-up vaccine and testing community events Key competencies include: Communication Skills

Education and experience: Minimum qualifications: High school diploma or GED Preferred qualifications: Associates degree, 1-2 years of medical assisting experience in a primary care ambulatory setting, Certification as a Medical Assistant through AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, Experience as a EMT or CNA, Experience working in an Employee Health Record (EHR) Required licenses: Current CPR certification Schedule: Regular attendance on-site is an essential function of this position. Typical business hours are Monday Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (or flexed to best meet the needs of the clients and/or the Division); 40 hours per workweek; weekend, holiday, or evening coverage is occasionally required. Work hours will need to be flexible in order to respond to special work assignments, or evening activities, as requested by the team leader. Position compensation: $19.52/hour for non-certified Medical Assistants and $20.43 for Certified Medical Assistants. Full time + full benefits available.
