Role Summary:
This role is a highly visible and influential contributor sitting at the heart of the Enterprise Strategy Team, driving strategic clarity and execution across the Cigna Group. As a Senior Principal, this role will lead efforts that shape the future direction of the enterprise, solve consequential strategic questions, and partner across the organization to accelerate key initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Enterprise Strategy Leadership
Set the direction for the enterprise by assessing the future outlook for the industry and providing critical insights around the most important choices for the long term strategy of The Cigna Group
Help craft and communicate the strategic vision and priorities of the Cigna Group, ensuring alignment across the organization
Lead scenario planning and strategic foresight efforts to anticipate market shifts and enterprise implications
Serve as a thought partner to senior executives, providing strategic counsel and framing decisions
Strategic Initiative Execution
Lead high-impact, cross-enterprise initiatives that address the most complex and critical challenges facing the organization
Manage special projects that span multiple business units and functions, often with ambiguous scope and high stakes
Translate complex strategic questions into actionable plans, leveraging structured problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration
Drive execution of enterprise initiatives, ensuring measurable impact and alignment with long-term goals
Cross-Enterprise Engagement
Partner with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to support, influence, and drive strategic initiatives that deliver enterprise value
Cultivate and lead a community of strategy partners across the organization.
Facilitate strategic alignment and integration across business units, functions, and geographies
Champion enterprise-wide strategies that require coordinated action and shared ownership
Strategic Analysis & Insight Development
Lead advanced strategic analyses, including market assessments, competitive intelligence, and business model innovation
Oversee development of business cases and financial models to support strategic decisions
Translate macro trends, consumer insights, and emerging technology/innovation into enterprise implications
Leadership Influence & Communication
Prepare and deliver strategic recommendations to senior leadership and the executive team
Influence decision-making through compelling storytelling, data-driven insights, and stakeholder engagement
Mentor strategy team members and foster a culture of strategic excellence
Build and nurture a robust network internally and externally to allow rapid movement on key developments and to ensure depth of expertise within reach
Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, investment banking, or private equity, preferably within healthcare or a similarly complex industry
Proven track record of leading enterprise-level strategy development and execution
Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) strongly preferred
Exceptional strategic acumen and problem-solving skills
Advanced financial modeling and business case development capabilities a plus
Outstanding communication and executive presence
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without authority
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving clarity in complex environments
If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 171,200 - 285,400 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.
This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus and long term incentive plan.
