Engineering Manager, CamelBak
As the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the development of industry-leading concepts from ideation through prototyping, initial development, and final development. This position works directly with the Director of R&D with close input from Merchandising, Sales, Brand Management, and Marketing, to drive our projects from conception to commercialization. Lead product development and engineering for reservoirs, bottles, drinkware, and accessories.
Provide strategic direction for platform-level projects and 5-year product planning.
Support CamelBak business Unit operations and communications.
Attract, develop, and retain top talent through coaching and stretch assignments.
Oversee internal workload and external partnerships to ensure timely project delivery.
Brainstorm with Marketing and Design to generate creative concepts.
Evaluate product success based on innovation, function, brand relevance, quality, and margins.
Manage CAD and documentation processes for efficiency and accuracy.
Manage product certifications and testing.
Maintain continuous communication with overseas suppliers.
Visit manufacturing facilities to support sampling, commercialization, and process improvement.
Build strategic partnerships with key technology vendors.
Manage costing processes, including PLM entries and vendor quotations.
Collaborate with Supply Chain, Customer Experience, and Brand Management to solve problems.
Review and prioritize performance and styling goals in product design
Education: 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent work experience
Experience: 5-10 years minimum consumer product development/engineering experience.
Must be very creative, forward thinking, an energy giver - not a taker.
CAD experience, preferably proficient in Solidworks.
Experience engineering injection molds, working with plastic parts and 3D modeling
Knowledge of plastics, textiles, and embellishment techniques
Previous development/engineering experience in helmets or molded plastic protective sport products
Prior experience working with overseas factories and vendors
Experience engineering compression molds and parts
