About the Role The Tax Manager will join our growing team of tax professionals located at our HQ in San Jose, CA. The Tax Manager will contribute to all areas of tax, including compliance and planning. The individual will report to the Tax Director. We seek a collaborative colleague who thrives in a fast-paced, growing company and is proactive in learning and taking on new challenges. The role involves active participation in income tax compliance and planning, closely integrated with direct and indirect tax, to support the business from a holistic tax perspective. Experience in worldwide tax compliance, M&A, inter-company transactions, US domestic and international income tax, and ASC 740 is preferred. In this position you’ll be a key member of the finance team and will have opportunities to contribute to shareholder value by assisting the growth of the company. Compensation and location For California only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $135,000 and $141,000. Compensation packages are based on factors including skill set, certifications, and location. Financial Reporting
Support the accurate preparation of Roku income tax for Form 10-Q/10-K financial reporting
Income Tax Return Compliance
Collaborate on the U.S. consolidated income tax return and state income tax returns, and assist with local international subsidiary returns as needed
Planning Activities
Contribute to tax planning strategies that maximize defensible savings Conduct tax research Assist in reviewing proposed transactions to advise management on tax consequences Support Federal income tax integration of business acquisitions, dispositions, and restructurings
Additional Activities
Provide technical tax advice and planning services to projects Build strong working relationships with internal project teams Develop knowledge by monitoring emerging tax trends and practices Assist with general compliance and special projects as needed
Tax Audits and Controversies
Evaluate requests from government tax authorities and participate in defense of tax positions Coordinate audit strategies and stay updated on legal developments
We’re excited if you have
BS/BA in Accounting or Tax
CPA, MBA or advanced degree with emphasis in taxation
Minimum 5-6 years of directly related tax experience (Big 4 or industry or both)
Broad technical knowledge of US and international tax laws and regulations
Strong accounting skills including inter-company transactions and eliminations, and experience with statutory local accounting
Solid GAAP Financial Accounting/ASC 740 knowledge
Excellent business acumen with understanding of tax implications for a multinational technology company
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills; advanced Excel proficiency
Effective presentation and project management skills
Ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly to stakeholders
Ability to work independently and as part of a team; hands-on attitude
Bonus: experience with NetSuite, compliance processes and systems, Onesource Tax Provision, and Alteryx
