Computational Imaging

Machine Learning Engineer

to help bring cutting-edge image restoration algorithms to life. At Glass Imaging, we are revolutionizing image restoration for a wide range of cameras—from smartphones and drones to high-end professional cinema devices. Our expertise spans

machine learning, image processing, and computational imaging , allowing us to build cutting-edge solutions for tasks such as

demosaicing, denoising, deblurring, aberration correction, super-resolution, and more . Our goal is to push the boundaries of image quality, and we’re looking for motivated engineers to join us in this mission. This position places a strong focus on execution and impact across the full machine learning pipeline – setting up experiments, processing datasets, improving ML system infrastructure, running and monitoring trainings, and evaluating models. You will be responsible for translating novel image processing ideas into well-structured code and robust experiments. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to computational imaging research and algorithmic design. Working closely with our research scientists, you’ll not only implement and optimize algorithms, but also have the chance to propose improvements, explore new approaches, and influence how our systems evolve. This is a role for someone who thrives on getting things done efficiently, enjoys solving technical problems, and wants exposure to both practical machine learning execution and applied research in a fast-paced startup environment. Responsibilities Implement, run, and monitor machine learning experiments for image restoration tasks (denoising, deblurring, super-resolution, etc.) Process, clean, and prepare large-scale imaging datasets for training and evaluation. Translate research ideas and algorithmic designs into high-quality code. Build and maintain tools, scripts, and infrastructure to streamline training, tuning, and evaluation pipelines. Compare models systematically, run benchmarks, and generate clear experiment reports. Debug training runs and improve reliability and reproducibility across experiments. Collaborate with research scientists, contributing ideas and improvements to algorithmic approaches. Skills & Requirements What makes you a good fit: Hands-on experience with the entire machine learning pipeline, including data collection/preparation, model tuning, training, and evaluation. Experience with image restoration, computational imaging, or computer vision. Proficiency with Python and deep learning frameworks (e.g. Pytorch, TensorFlow, etc.) Strong software engineering fundamentals: clean code, testing, debugging, and version control. Familiarity with working on digital images. Ability to work independently, manage experiments, and deliver results efficiently. A degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Nice-to-haves: Knowledge of MLOps tools (experiment tracking, dataset versioning, job schedulers, etc.). Experience training models on multi-GPU servers or cloud infrastructure. Familiarity with optimization techniques for efficient ML (quantization, pruning, compression). Exposure to Android or iOS development, or deployment on embedded platforms. Location & Travel We are primarily hiring for positions in our SF Bay Area, CA (primarily in-person) office but may consider other arrangements for outstanding circumstances. Competitive pay Stock options 401(k) Company Paid Cal-Train Go Pass We’re happy to sponsor visas, though success depends on the role and individual circumstances. If we offer you the job, we’ll do everything we reasonably can to secure a visa, with the help of an immigration lawyer to guide the process. About GLASS Imaging Our mission is to bring professional-level image quality to everyone by making cutting-edge image processing accessible to all devices—from smartphones and XR devices to infrastructure maintenance and security applications. We believe that AI-driven processing can extract every ounce of image quality from any camera, making capturing better pictures with any camera easier for everyone. But we aren’t just enhancing how images are processed; we’re revolutionizing how they’re captured, redefining the core principles of camera design and reimagining how lenses, sensors, and AI-driven processing work together. We’re fundamentally changing how cameras operate to unlock unprecedented levels of performance and image quality. Founded by former Apple engineers behind Portrait Mode and other groundbreaking iPhone camera features, we’re a team of passionate and experienced engineers pushing the boundaries of photography. Join us in shaping the future of camera technology! Equal Opportunity & Diversity Statement Glass Imaging is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. We celebrate differences and do not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected status.
